Day 2 Haarlem - Keukenhof - Leiden 40 km Today you visit the Keukenhof gardens, the most beautiful spring park in the world with an overwhelming blaze of colours. The many blossoms, the flowering rhododendrons and azaleas are a feast to the eye! You spend the night in Leiden which is home to both Rembrandt and Armin van Buuren.

Day 3 Leiden - Kudelstaart 45 km Today you bike from Leiden to Kudelstaart, continuing around the . Imagine that this once was the biggest lake in Holland and nicknamed 'the waterwolf'. The cycle route leads you through the green heart of Holland, an area characterized by small cycle paths and a small bor- dered by the Westeinderplassen. Then sail onwards to Amsterdam where we leave the city behind and continue the tour through lush green towards the world famous hamlet of Zaanse Schans. Onwards to Wormerveer, today’s destination.

Day 5 Wormerveer - Alkmaar 45 km From Wormerveer you will cycle through the most beautiful dunes of the Netherlands and if weather permits, you may like to swim in the North Sea during your lunch break at the beach. Alkmaar is above all Holland's cheese town. From April to September a traditional cheese market is held here on Friday mornings. The cheeses are sold by dealers on a clap of hands. Alkmaar is historical with around 400 heritage sites, canals and the main harbour.

Day 6 Alkmaar - Purmerend 35 km Today you can discover the origin of cheese and the birthplace of the man who defeated 'the waterwolf', Mr. Leegh- water. The Beemster Polder, dating from the early 17th century, is an exceptional example of reclaimed land in the Netherlands. There will be time to visit the windmills at the Rijp.

Day 7 Purmerend - Amsterdam 35 km Purmerend lies at the edge of an area called ‘ ’ where roads and water are nearby and on the same level. We visit the village of Zunderdorp and Ransdorp. You can also cycle the long route to Edam and Volendam and if time permits you can cross the lake Gouwzee to admire the traditional fisherman’s village Marken with its typical wooden houses.
