Welcome to the 2021 Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo 606-305-6443

As we celebrate the 35th year of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo, we John Ethington pause to remember all our farm families who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year. 859-533-1301

It has been a tough one for many of us in the agriculture industry. But it has also been a time to seek new opportunities and be reminded of the blessings we still enjoy. One of those many blessings includes the wonderful industry we uctioneer have in this state. A

Because of the hard work and dedication shown to this sector by producers Eddie Burks throughout the Commonwealth, we are proud to know Kentucky has become Lic#P1201 one of the top producing states in the country, and certainly the largest east of the Mississippi. 270-991-6398

The Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo is a premiere showcase of some of the best beef cattle anywhere, and an indicator of the quality cattle being produced in this state; a sector which represents 12 percent of the state’s overall farm cash receipts of $5.5 billion.

We hope your time spent at this year’s Beef Expo is productive whether you have come to show, sell, or spectate, and we look forward to another great year as one of the premiere beef cattle marketing events in this region of the country.

Sincerely,

Mark Haney President

Dear friends,

I would like to welcome you to the 35th Annual Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo. After a crazy 2020 that saw many events disrupted, I am grateful for the opportunity to participate once again in this staple of Kentucky’s agriculture calendar.

Every year at the Beef Expo, Kentucky cattlemen show and sell some of the best cattle in the country to buyers looking to upgrade their herd genetics or take home a show project. This event is truly the place for the beef industry on the first weekend in March.

Over the years, we’ve seen ups and downs in the beef cattle market and 2020 was no exception. The coronavirus brought incredible pressures on our food and agr many ways, we are still fighting with some of the effects of those pressures, including long waitlists and backlogs at meat processors across the country. For our particulture in Kentucky, sectors and we had worked negative qu effects on market prices. In View Catalog at Agricultural Development Fund (KADF) to develop a meat processing expansion program that has dedicated more than $3.5 million of tobacco settlement and CARES Act dollars www.kybeefexpo.com that these investments ickly through the Kentucky are critical to the future of Kentucky, the largest beef cattle state east of the Mississippi River. . While a lot of work remains, I believe www.kytnredangus.com In addition to our work to support our cattle industry during the pandemic, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA)’s Office of State Veterinarian continued working with USDA, Kentucky’s two vete www.thecattlelots.com diagnostic laboratories, and private veterinary practice to protect Kentucky livestock and poultry from foreign animal diseases and eradicate disease outbreaks. We also welcomed a new state veterinaria www.dvauction.com and a new deputy state veterinarian in Dr. Alex Hagan. Odds are you may see them here at the Beef Exporinary and I hope you will make them feel welcome in their new roles. And critically, our Division of Shows and Fairs continued supporting n in Dr. Katie Flynn shows like this one all through the pandemic. Please join me in thanking them.

More so than usual, a lot of work went into making this event possible in this year. Be sure to thank the hardworking Kentucky Venues staff when you see them. However, the best way you show your gratitude is by following public health guidelines while at t Expo safe. he Exposition Center. We appreciate you helping us make the Beef

Again, welcome, and best wishes on an enjoyable and successful Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo. If I or any of my staff can be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,

Hazel is the first heifer calf she has had for us. Hazel is long bodied and feminine fronted. Although she was exhibited as a feeder calf at the county fair by one of the neighbor kids, we’d recommend a bigger, older exhibitor if you plan to show her, but we think her best days will be spent in the pasture. Seeing as how D603 seems to always throw bulls, we probably shouldn’t be selling this one, but we have committed to selling the top end of our heifer calves so don’t miss this opportunity

Power Play was a division winner at NWSS before we purchased him from Rich Red Angus to headline our sire battery. He was a Power Eye son that was leaving his mark on our herd before we lost him prematurely. Luckily we had him collected and continue to use him a lot on heifers. After AI she ran with SFCC Gambino 907G (4123856) from 12/14 to 1/21. Service Sire to Lot 35 RRA Power Play 512

SFCC Elaine 762E is a super feminine, eye appealing cow with a near perfect udder. She is sired by the calving ease specialist, CSF Red Zone and traces to the 33Y donor female we purchased as one of the high sellers out of the Cowgirls sale from Lazy MC in Canada. We have used a son of the 33Y cow as well as have kept a few daughters, they just flat get it done. She has a Sept 3 bull calf at side by UBAR High Capacity 224. With the calving ease from the dam’s pedigree and the performance from High Capacity, the little bull calf may well pay for the investment in momma. She has also been bred back, AI’d on 12/4 to UBAR Grand Canyon 124 (805798), a son of 1244G and out of the Copperqueen 7168 cow. Grand Canyon 124 was a bull that Kurt Rich urged me to buy semen on and use, as he had sired some of his favorite cattle over the years. She then ran with SFCC Gambino 907G (4123856), our home raised Hard Lot 40 Drive son, from 12/14 to 1/21.
