UIMC Edward F. Gold has been awarded the Bronze Star by'Capt R.L. Temme, Commanding Officer of the Naval Air Station. The medal was presented to Chief Gold for his meri- torious service to United States and South Vietnamese forces from Oct. 25, 1968, to May 10, 1969. While in South Vietnam, Chief Gold served as boat captain of River Patrol Boat 87 with River Division 570. He participated in 110, combat patrols, and in one of these missions he was credited with saving the life of a crewmember.
