But although it was new to the Mediterranean world, it was really the classical, traditional teachings of the ancient rishis of India that even today comprise Sanatana Dharma, the Eternal Dharma, that goes far beyond religion into actual realization through the practice of yoga. (See Appendix Two: The Yoga of the Nath Yogis and Jesus.) The material in this book will reveal that this statement is simple fact without exaggeration. Jesus and the Apostle Thomas taught nothing new in either Israel or India. Their religion was identical with that which Jesus studied in India, that which is found in the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita and other fundamental scriptures and spiritual writings of India. Jesus and Saint Thomas taught nothing but Sanatana Dharma. The deformed entity known today as “Christianity” is a corruption and betrayal of their actual teachings. Jesus learned his wisdom from the sages of India and so must those who would follow him. I am not the originator of this idea. In 1920 Swami (later Paramhansa) Yogananda came to America to speak at a religious conference in Boston, Massachusetts. -

Its range extends from the most concrete values of numerical compu- tation to the most abstract aspects of the dynamics of intelligence. The computational methods of Vedic Mathematics have been found to be easier to learn, faster, and more enjoyable than conventional methods. The intrinsic flexibility of the Vedic system of calculation develops the students’ creativity and clarity of mind. The system of Vedic Mathematics is derived from the Vedic tradition or knowl- edge, recently revitalized and reinterpreted by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the form of a modern systematic science, known as Maharishi’s Vedic Science. According to Mahar- ishi, at its deepest level, Vedic Mathematics is the exploration and exposition of the self- interacting structure of pure consciousness, which is the orderly basis of all phenomena in nature. By connecting mathematics to its source in the field of pure consciousness, Vedic Mathematics has the potential to bring fulfillment to all areas of mathematics and to solve the current crisis in mathematics education. -

Sri Ramakrishna & His Disciples in Orissa
Preface Pilgrimage places like Varanasi, Prayag, Haridwar and Vrindavan have always got prominent place in any pilgrimage of the devotees and its importance is well known. Many mythological stories are associated to these places. Though Orissa had many temples, historical places and natural scenic beauty spot, but it did not get so much prominence. This may be due to the lack of connectivity. Buddhism and Jainism flourished there followed by Shaivaism and Vainavism. After reading the lives of Sri Chaitanya, Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and direct disciples we come to know the importance and spiritual significance of these places. Holy Mother and many disciples of Sri Ramakrishna had great time in Orissa. Many are blessed here by the vision of Lord Jagannath or the Master. The lives of these great souls had shown us a way to visit these places with spiritual consciousness and devotion. Unless we read the life of Sri Chaitanya we will not understand the life of Sri Ramakrishna properly. Similarly unless we study the chapter in the lives of these great souls in Orissa we will not be able to understand and appreciate the significance of these places. If we go on pilgrimage to Orissa with same spirit and devotion as shown by these great souls, we are sure to be benefited spiritually. This collection will put the light on the Orissa chapter in the lives of these great souls and will inspire the devotees to read more about their lives in details. This will also help the devotees to go to pilgrimage in Orissa and strengthen their devotion. -

Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras or word-formulae. It is not only useful for arithmetic computations but also helpful for solving problems related to other branches of Mathematics as Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus etc. Vedic mathematics not only helps in faster computations but also in determining the right solutions to a problem. Keywords: Algebra, Arithmetic, Calculus, Sutra, and Vedas. I. INTRODUCTION Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krisna Tirthraji (1884-1960). According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras or word-formulae. For example, 'Vertically and crosswise` is one of these Sutras. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution. Instead of learning by repetition, vedic mathematics involves logic and understanding the fundamental concepts. One can do calculations much faster than done by using the conventional method that is taught in schools. It teaches the students the same problem in different ways. -

Vedic Maths’ : myths and facts S.G. Dani Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Homi Bhabha Road, Mumbai 400 005 What is “Vedic” Mathematics? I am referring here what has popularly come to be understood by that name, and not what it should strictly mean. Going by the propaganda reports “Vedic Maths”’ is an “amazingly compact and powerful system of calculation”, and one also hears things like “once you have learnt the 16 sutras by heart, you can solve any long problem orally”, and so on. Incredible hyperbole indeed !! Actually it is nothing of the sort. It is essentially a compilation of some tricks in simple arithmetic and algebra. The term “trick” is not used here in any pejorative sense, meaning to convey deceit of some sort. It just means a short cut, with a bit of psychological appeal to it. “Vedic” mathematics is indeed a collection of short cut procedures, applicable to only an assortment of special situations, and quite an incoherent one at that. It is thus really not a “system”, though there is a popular misconception to that effect. The so called Vedic mathematics (VM) first made its appearance in print in the book ‘Vedic Mathematics’[12], first published in 1965, authored by Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha, who was the Shankaryacharya of the Puri Mutt from 1925 until he passed away in 1960. The book was published posthu- mously by some disciples of the Shankaracharya. The book presents some “su- tras”, claimed to be from the ancient Vedic lore, and describes some proce- dures, supposedly coming from the sutras, to deal with some specific arithmeti- cal/algebraic problems. -
