The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometers (26 miles and 385 yards), usually run as a road race. The marathon was one of the original modern Olympic sports in 1896, though the distance did not become standardized until 1921. The extents of cooperation from his colleagues as well as from other stakeholders depend to a great extent on effectiveness of Principal’s leadership behavior. The investigator conducted the present study to reveal a clear picture of leadership effectiveness of principals of the General Degree Colleges of Tinsukia District. The main objective of the study is to find out Leadership Effectiveness of Principals of the General Degree Colleges in Tinsukia in general and in relation to location and management in particular. The method followed in this study is Normative Survey Method. Population of the study consists of all the 297 nos. of teachers in the colleges of Tinsukia District. A total of 88 nos. teachers were selected for the sample. The tool used for collection of data was Leadership Effectiveness Scale (LES). It was developed by the investigator. Conclusion drawn from the study were that the Leadership Effectiveness of the majority of the Principals is slightly higher than the average, no significant difference between Leadership Effectiveness of the Principals of the Rural and Urban General Degree Colleges, no significant difference between Leadership Effectiveness of the Principals of the Provincialised and Non-Provincialised General Degree Colleges etc.
