SUBJECT: Issues Update

MCDOT News The Maricopa County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) RightRoads Program is conducting a public input meeting on Thursday, July 19th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Ventana Lakes Yacht Club located at 20015 North 108th Avenue in Peoria to gather community input regarding preliminary design plans for the Williams Drive/Deer Valley Road Roadway Improvement Project. Improvements include the widening (the construction of two through travel lanes in each direction with a continuous center left-turn lane) and eastward extension of Williams Drive between El Mirage Road and 117th Avenue. The future five-lane roadway will then proceed southeasterly from Williams Drive and 117th Avenue, across the Agua Fria River channel, to the Deer Valley Road alignment on the east side of the river channel and continue eastward for approximately one- quarter mile to tie into existing Deer Valley Road improvements at 109th Avenue.

The project also includes the construction of an all-weather bridged crossing of the Agua Fria River channel and a bridged crossing of the future Agua Fria Truck Route Reliever (AFTRR) planned by the City of Peoria. Other improvements include the installation of bike lanes, sidewalks, drainage improvements and landscape restoration. A noise-quieting rubberized asphalt overlay will also be installed along the entire 2.5 mile roadway segment. Construction is currently slated to begin January 2014 and should take approximately 13 months to complete.

Please stop by anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. to speak with MCDOT project team members. For more information, contact MCDOT Project Manager Sami Ayoub [email protected] or contact Roberta Crowe, MCDOT Public Information Officer, at (602) 506-8003.
