Kohl’s Cares for Kids® offers America’s most beloved children’s book rhymes for a limited time MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis., January 2, 2008 – Kohl’s customers can ring in the new year with books from America’s best loved master of rhyme, Dr. Seuss. Now through April, Kohl’s stores nationwide will offer collector’s edition books from Dr. Seuss along with corresponding plush for just $5 each through its Kohl’s Cares for Kids® program. Each purchase of “Horton Hatches the Egg,” “Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories,” “Hop on Pop” and “Fox in Socks” will benefit children nationwide. Dr. Seuss’ rhythmic words and fanciful illustrations offer an entertaining way to amuse children and encourage an early love of reading. “Dr. Seuss stories are timeless favorites. For just $5, books that were parents’ favorites growing up can now be enjoyed with their own children,” said Julie Gardner, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Kohl’s Department Stores. “By purchasing Kohl’s Cares for Kids books and plush, customers will create treasured memories while working to improve children’s health and education nationwide.” Kohl’s donates 100 percent of net profits from Kohl’s Cares for Kids purchases; these Seuss books and plush will add to the more than $85 million that has been raised for children’s initiatives since the program’s inception in 2000. More than 60 limited time offer books have been featured at Kohl’s as part of this charitable program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares for Kids features fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations; the Kohl’s Kids Who Care® Scholarship Program, which recognizes young volunteers; and the A-Team Program which encourages associate volunteerism and provides grants to youth-focused nonprofits. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1984, an Academy Award, three Emmy Awards, three Grammy Awards, and three Caldecott Honors, Geisel wrote and illustrated 44 books for children including such beloved classics as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas!.
