23.799 Honourable Readers !

The presentation of this humble work was very difficult, as the Hardinge Library, Delhi, the only Library of its kind in Delhi is full of fiction and contains few books on history or reference. But, the Honourable Sir John P. Thompson C.I.E., i.C.s. Chief Commissioner of Delhi, was pleased to recommend me to the Commissioner of Edu cation, who by sanctioning for *me the use of the Imperial Secretariat library has enabled me to compile this Bibliography, which was at first not intended. My object in the first instance was to publish pamphlets in different aspects of , but my freind Lala Mahabir Pershad advises me to publish this list at once, as it may possibly save the time and trouble of a Jain Research Scholar. Every reference for and against Jains on Jainism, important or unimportant, has been taken not only by seeing the index, but after careful study. Most of the unimportant works are not given, but some of them are given for the sake of completing the different sets The present work is not arranged properly and contains many misprints, which is mostly due to my inexperience, my inability to obtain books at ^the proper time, and not to correct the proofs myself. My clerk lost the correct manuscript which was given to him to send to the press, and without informing me prepared another, and sent it to the press. The press also lost two pages and at the same time did not bring the fact to my notice. My clerk had entirely taken the responsibility of correcting the proofs, which on account of my unfortunate illness I gladly accepted, though it was a great folly on my part. However 1 have tried to correct and arrange them, as far as possible by adding notes in the list of contents and a list of corrections, additions and alterations.

I am very thankful to Nawab A.F.M. Abdul-Ali, Officer incharge to the Imperial Record Office, for allowing me the use of the Government Historical Record Office Library, and to Mr. Fazaluddin B.A., Honorary Librarian of the Delhi University Library, who has allowed me the use of the University Library as well as to Mr. S. K. Sen M,A. Principal of the Hindu College, who also kindly allowed me the use of his college Library.

I am trying to complete tire different sets which are incomplete in these pages, by getting the books from the Imperial Library Calcutta and from the Bengal Asiatic Society Library.
