2019 capped off the first five years of the Dallas Sports Commission, and it has been an honor. Since our inception in October 2014, we have been responsible for more than $2.2 billion in economic impact to the Dallas region. This is the first World Cup back to partnership of its kind between an NFL Team, an MLS Club, and top international sports federation. One of the promises of the Dallas Sports Commission is to have a positive impact on our local economy, and the exciting events put on annually by the National Cheerleaders Association helps to accomplish just that. The NCA Senior and Junior High School National Championship, along with the All-Star National Championship, the largest cheerleading competition in the country, provided a combined economic impact of more than $50 million to the city of Dallas in 2019.

Hosted in Dallas since 1988, the NCA All-Star National Championship has grown to be the largest annual event that the Dallas Sports Commission hosts. Also the largest cheer competition in the world, All-Star Nationals has more than 1,300 teams that come from over 40 states and 10 countries. “Every year our events in Dallas get bigger and better. We always look forward to Dallas, as do the many visitors who come to this city annually to participate in our events,” said Mike Duhon, Executive Director, Competition Operations for the National Cheerleaders Association.

Much like the NCA event, the Mizuno Lone Star Classic provides a major impact on hotels, restaurants, food trucks, merchants, transportation companies, and entertainment facilities during its stay downtown.

The Mizuno Lone Star Classic is the second largest volleyball tournament in the world with more than 1,750 teams participating every April at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention . As one of the largest of all USA Volleyball National Qualifiers, the Mizuno Lone Star Classic annually attracts tens of thousands of athletes, coaches, families, and fans, along with more than 80 college recruiters. With more than 58,000 in attendance utilizing more than 27,000 hotel rooms, the Mizuno Lone Star Classic provided an economic impact of more than $31.3 million in 2019.

And each year it gets bigger, as youth teams and clubs from around the world descend on Dallas to participate in one of the most competitive tournaments in all of youth soccer. The tournament traditionally consists of approximately 40% international teams, 40% American teams outside of Dallas, and 20% Dallas-area teams. Each year more than 100,000 spectators watch teams from all over the world compete for the coveted Boot and trophy.

As the elite youth soccer tournament in the country, Dr Pepper Dallas Cup makes a tremendous impact on the local region each year. In addition to the economic impact, Dallas-area residents are able to witness some of the top amateur soccer players in the world before they become stars. Based on the event’s history, during any given year fans who attend Dr Pepper Dallas Cup matches figure to be watching future World Cup stars in action.

For four years, through 2022, the Mexican National Soccer team will train in Dallas and play international matches in AT&T Stadium during the Mexican National Team U.S. Tour. And like all major events and partnerships hosted by the Dallas Sports Commission, this partnership provides numerous opportunities for members of 5,000+ our community, as Dallas’ partnership with the FAN FEST Mexican National Team is more than just one day ATTENDANCE and one match. The Premier SuperCopa came to Dallas’ MoneyGram Soccer Park in June and brings together many of the top U9-U12 boys and girls programs from around the country.

MLS () youth academies represented included FC Dallas, Sports KC, Dynamo, Rapids and Fire. In addition, several top European clubs like Juventus and PSG had satellite youth programs participating. The invitation-only tournament also featured a World Cup watch party and a skills clinic with U.S. Soccer legends Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly and Tisha Ventura-Hoch.

The Dallas area is overflowing with youth sports, and one of the most popular sports among area youth is volleyball. It’s a trend that is growing throughout the state, and USA Volleyball’s selection of Dallas to host the 2019 Boy’s Junior National Championships is proof of that continued growth.

This was Dallas’ third time to host the Boys’ Junior National Championship in the last ten years as the city also hosted in 2012 and 2016. Titles were awarded in seven divisions over the course of the eight-day tournament. Teams had to qualify through USA Volleyball bid tournaments held across the country, or through at-large selections based on results at bid tournaments.

23,066 616 EVENT RECORD NUMBER ATTENDANCE OF TEAMS $25.1M 57 ECONOMIC VOLLEYBALL IMPACT COURTS 2019 WORLD FOOD CHAMPIONSHIPS The World Food Championships (WFC) is the highest stakes food competition in the world and made its Dallas debut in October 2019 at the Reunion Tower lawn. This multi-day, live-event culinary competition showcases some of the world’s best cooking masters competing for food, fame and fortune in ten categories. In 2019, more than 1,400 cooks and 450 culinary teams from 11 countries and 42 American states competed in WFC’s Main Event. The winners who emerged from the Main Event had to complete three rounds of challenges in the following categories: Barbecue, Bacon, Burger, Chef, Chili, Dessert, Recipe, Sandwich, Seafood and Steak. The Ten Category champs crowned will now face-off in the $100,000 challenge that will determine the overall World Food Champion at The Final Table in May 2020.

Hundreds of thousands of spectators join in BMW Dallas Marathon Day – the second Sunday of December – lining the streets and neighborhoods to cheer on participants in a race that is recognized as the official marathon of the City of Dallas.

Established in 1971, the history of the organization encompasses tremendous growth and produces what has become Dallas’ largest and Texas’ longest running marathon as well as several other weekend event options 20,000 RUNNERS including a Half Marathon, 50K Ultra Marathon, 2-person PARTICIPATED half marathon relay, 4-person marathon relay, 10K, 5K, 2-Mile Walk, 1-Mile “Under the Lights” and various Kids Races. The Marathon Health & Fitness Expo is a two-day 50 U.S. STATES event filled with merchandise, information and exhibits REPRESENTED related to the running, fitness and health industries. $12.3M ECONOMIC IMPACT 15 COUNTRIES REPRESENTED 2019 SERVPRO It was the battle of the Westerns as Western Kentucky topped Western Michigan 23-20 on a field goal with no time on the clock at the 2019 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl on December 30 at SMU’s Ford Stadium.

It was the 10th edition of the in Dallas and was broadcast nationally on ESPN. The game is a joint effort to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s First Responders. Those honored at the game included police officers, firefighters, EMS workers, correctional officers, search and rescue, dispatchers, security guards, federal agents, border patrol agents and military personnel who have specialized training and are the first to arrive and provide assistance at the scene of an emergency.

Improving the quality of life of Dallas residents. It’s not just a feel-good statement we make. It’s a commitment that we work hard to accomplish. We start by helping our major events like WrestleMania, the NCAA Final Four, and the NFL Draft execute their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives at local children’s hospitals, schools, and non-profits. We also execute our own events that provide members of our community with experiences and opportunities they may otherwise not have access to, such as the Dallas Regional Spelling Bee, Cotton Bowl Stadium Prep Showcase, and MexTour Reading Program. The Dallas Sports Commission is committed to making our community a better place to live and raise families.

The Dallas Sports Commission kicked-off their 5-Year Anniversary celebration on October 31, 2019 with a year-long program that will include community initiatives and Dallas sports experience giveaways that all members of the Dallas community can participate in.

“It has been a privilege to lead the team at the Dallas Sports Commission for the past five years and to see the great events we’ve brought for Dallas residents to enjoy,” said Monica Paul, Executive Director of the Dallas Sports Commission. “Our mission is to position Dallas as a premier sports destination for sports and entertainment events, championships and competitions that have a positive impact on the economy and the quality of life for our residents. While it is our goal to make Dallas known around the world, we also remain invested in our community and want to share our anniversary with Dallas.”

The celebration began with limited-time giveaways to kick-off the 5-Year Anniversary. The Dallas Cowboys, , , FC Dallas, , Dallas and the BMW Dallas Marathon all participated with offers to commemorate the DSC 5-Year Anniversary. The DSC also announced at the start of each month through September 2020 the opportunity for sports fans to win a monthly experience package by registering at dallassports.org. Packages may include tickets, merchandise, hotel stays, dinners and more to great Dallas events that included a Winter Classic package, experiences with the , FC Dallas, AT&T Byron Nelson and much more!

At the beginning of each month through September 2020, details will be released for the monthly social media initiative for that month. The monthly initiatives featured a salute to veterans and the military, Black History Month, Women in History Month, mentoring and volunteerism.
