Captains starter Eric Mock took the loss after allowing seven High-A Central League runs in 2.2 innings, including two home runs. Agustin Ruiz gave the TinCaps a 2-0 lead two batters into the first inning with a two- run home run. Justin Lopez capped a five-run TinCaps third inning with a two-run homer. The Captains’ lone runs came on a second-inning RBI single by Joe Naranjo and a seventh-inning RBI double by Will Brennan. Fort Wayne reliever Brandon Komar East Division W L GB earned the win with two perfect innings to close the game.

Dayton (Cincinnati) 20 15 -- WELCOME BACK: Since returning from a groin strain that kept him out from May 7 through May 31, OF Quentin Holmes has gone 8-for-14 (.571) with a home run, four RBI, three walks and three steals.

LAST TIME OUT: Hickman made the longest start of his young professional career and earned the win against Dayton last Sunday at Classic Park. The right-hander lasted 5.2 innings and held the Dragons to one run on four hits. Hickman struck out five and walked one. Dayton’s lone run against Hickman came in the first inning when the starter walked Jacob Hurtubise to begin the game. Hurtubise then stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a ground out. Hickman never allowed more than one hit in an inning. The Captains

gave Hickman lots of run support and Lake County beat Dayton, 14-4. COLLEGE ACCOLADES: Hickman was named a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Game, and Second Team Preseason All-America by Perfect Game before the shortened 2020 season.

th 2020 DRAFT: Cleveland selected Hickman in the fifth round (154 overall) of the 2020 draft, which was shortened to five rounds. This was considered a bit of a steal by some outlets with both Perfect Game and Baseball America ranking Hickman as the 65th best draft prospect entering the draft.

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES CLINCHER: Hickman’s shining moment at Vanderbilt came in 2019 as he helped lead the Commodores to their second National Championship in school history. In the series clinching win, Hickman started for Vanderbilt tossing six strong innings, allowing just one run while fanning 10 Wolverines in the 8-2 win. He also started in the CWS semifinals against Louisville throwing six scoreless frames and surrendering just two hits with three . In four total NCAA Tournament starts he went 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA in 23 innings.
