  • Motorcycle, Moped and Motor Scooter Policy
Motorcycle, Moped and Motor Scooter Policy Definition Mopeds and scooters are one and the same in the eyes of North Carolina's Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Mopeds and motor scooters are defined as a vehicle with two or three wheels with a motor of no more than 50 cubic centimeters of piston displacement and no external shifting device. Legally, a moped's top speed cannot exceed 30 mph on a level surface. Although some mopeds on the market have top speeds higher than the 30 mph limit, they are illegal for use in North Carolina. If a moped does not fit the above requirements, it must be registered as a motorcycle under North Carolina law. Parking Permit A parking permit is required for all motorized motorcycles, mopeds and motor scooters parking on the Wake Forest University Campus. o The cost of an annual on-campus parking permit is $50. o The cost of a permit is waived if a customer has already purchased an annual vehicle permit at regular price. Motorcycles, moped and motor scooters are required to be registered at the Parking and Transportation office, not on-line. Parking Designated moped and motor scooter parking areas are located in parking lots A, M and P. o Mopeds and motor scooters can also park in motorcycle spaces. Motorcycles can only park in designated motorcycle spaces, not moped / motor scooter spaces. Motorcycle spaces are located in lots G, H, J, L, P, Q, S, T, W-1, Z, and Jasper Memory Lane. Parking is authorized only in spaces marked by signs or ground markings.

Improving SafetyImproving and forScooter Moped Motorcycle, Riders Improving Safety for Motorcycle, Scooter and Moped Riders The global fleet of powered two-wheelers (PTWs) is constantly increasing. In many countries, motorcycles, scooters and mopeds play a significant role in mobility, particularly in many of the world’s large cities. As such, PTWs are becoming an important component of the transport system. However, they represent an important challenge for road safety. PTW riders are at far more risk than car drivers per kilometre ridden in terms of fatalities and severe injuries entailing long-term disability. Moreover, they have not benefited from safety improvements at the same pace as car occupants over recent decades. Addressing the issue of PTW safety is thus an essential contribution to the success of the United Nations’ Decade of Action for Road Safety, which aims at halving the expected number of road deaths worldwide by 2020. This report reviews recent trends in powered two-wheeler crashes, the factors contributing to these crashes and their severity. It describes a set of countermeasures targeting user behaviours, the use of protective equipment, the vehicles and the infrastructure. Finally, it discusses motorcycle safety strategies in the context of a safe system. Worcester & Hereford Advanced Motorcyclists September 2015 The Chairman’s Notes Welcome to the WHAM Newsletter It has been great to see so many of you out on a Sunday ride and at our Slow Riding Day this Summer. Firstly congratulations to Gary Barnes on passing his Masters test with flying colours. I know he put a lot of effort into preparing for the various aspects of the I have had my riding filmed to enable me to visualise feedback and ascertain my riding style in corners and when overtaking. This was part of training. Many of us have cameras for both personal use and training purposes. Please consider how you use them for private use, when with club members. Please ask permission before filming and never put videos in the public domain without prior consent. The club has protocols for training with cameras but we rely on your mutual respect and common sense towards fellow club members. Tony Davies and Ali Lewis have done a fantastic job organising the weekend to Exmoor and sorting routes. The accommodation was comfortable with good food. Spookily – why do fish and chips taste better by the sea? We all happily tucked into the local delicacy whilst avoiding seagulls! Thanks also to Den for organising probably the best Slow Riding Day WHAM have offered. What a fantastic turn-out. Feedback has been very positive from you all and many have mentioned how good an opportunity it was to test you and your bike in a controlled environment. Activities included slow riding circuit, slalom courses, hazard avoidance, higher speed slalom and higher speed braking.

  • Flag Bearer of the Recovery in Automotive Segment
Sector Report 2 Wheelers 28th August, 2020 Auto 2 Wheelers in a sweet spot – Flag bearer of the recovery in Automotive Segment Indian two-wheelers faced a severe downturn in FY20 and are expected to fall further in FY21 due to COVID-19 and BSVI cost push; however, volumes should rebound by FY22E and FY23E on two years of low base. In light of COVID-19 pandemic, we expect the industry volumes to fall by ~12% in FY21E, followed by strong growth of ~18% and ~14% in FY22E and FY23E. We are bullish on the Indian 2W industry over the next 2-3 years. The auto volumes are back by almost adecade whereas the margins are at cyclical lows; we expect multi-fold earnings growth in the recovery period. We believe Hero Motocorp Ltd will outperform its peers on the back of strong rural demand and preference for entry-level motorcycles. Eicher Motors with its strong franchise and a renewed focus on new products is expected to do well. We are of the opinion that TVS Motors is trading at significantly higher multiples in comparison to other 2 wheeler OEMs and hence we expect limited upside from current levels. We assume coverage on the two-wheeler industry with a BUY rating on Hero Motocorp Ltd (Hero), HOLD rating on Eicher Motors Ltd (EIM) and a SELL rating on TVS Motors Ltd (TVSL). We upgrade our rating from HOLD to BUY on Bajaj Auto Ltd (BJAUT). Covid-19 and Key Regulatory Changes amidst weak cycle India's two-wheeler (2W) industry saw its worst downturn in a decade as volumes fell by 18% YoY in FY20 amid weakening economy and regulatory changes leading to higher insurance and road tax.
