After a record-setting senior season at Villanova in 2006, right-handed pitcher Mike Loree was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. Page 22 VILLANOVA BALLPARK AT PLYMOUTH The Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth opened in time for the 2003 season, and gives the Wildcat baseball program one of the finest facilities in the BIG EAST Conference. Located off Germantown Pike in Plymouth Township, the stadium is just a 10-15 minute drive from the Villanova campus.

The facility, which is enclosed by a 10-foot fence, features batting cages and a bullpen with two pitching mounds that are located down each of the lines. Behind the plate is a 10-foot high wall, over which stands the press box and permanent stands. The field dimensions are 320 down each of the lines, 375 to the power alleys and 400 to straightaway center field. The field contains a bluegrass infield and an outfield made from a Pennsylvania rye blend.

The ballpark has had numerous improvements made since its opening. In 2006, new dirt in the infield and behind the plate was put in to create a more stable playing field during inclement weather. Prior to the 2007 season a permanent sound system was installed outside the press box and Internet access was added with the capability to broadcast live stats via Gametracker.

"I am excited that our baseball facility continues to move forward with continuous improvements," head coach Joe Godri said. "The Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth continues to push the envelope as one of the best facilities in the conference and maybe even the Northeast."
