Following report kindly supplied by Bethesda RFC.

Bethesda, shorn of a number of experienced players, were not expected to win at Caernarfon but they were still in the match until the final quarter.

Caernarfon’s backs looked threatening throughout the match but with about 12 minutes remaining the visitors were within 4 points of the hosts.

Bethesda’s forwards had given the Caernarfon eight plenty to think about especially at scrum time and the scores were level at 10 points each at half time.

Although the home side had to play up the slope in the second half they finished stronger than Bethesda and they added 2 late tries to the 3 they Please send in your reports and pictures to had already scored. Bethesda going from strength with their girls rugby teams

Bethesda RFC have never before had girls teams in the junior sections, only a senior ladies team about 15 years ago.

Mid way through last season they were approached by a group of Latest tables for Caernarfon and Abergele Ladies girls wanting to play rugby. The club agreed and and a 15’s side Gorseinon Ladies 10 v Abergele Ladies 22 Photos by Gavin Oak was set up with around 30 registered players.

This season Pesda have up to now 42 registered players and theee teams, an under 13’s,15’s and 18’s. The 18’s are playing in the WRU North wales girls youth league alongside teams from Caernarfon, Welshpool and Nant conwy.

Following is a brief report for the recent game against Welshpool.

They also had a friendly for the 15’s against a mixture of Welsh- pool and Llanidloes. Score Bethesda 10 Welshpool 41.

The girls teams played their first fixture today home against Welshpool. For the under 18’s this was their first fixture in the North Wales league and as an under 18’s team having only started mid season last season with an under 15’s side.

The under 18’s played extremely well against a very mature Welshpool side but they kept their composure and went on to score four excellent tries, try scorers Elin Owen, Manon Hughes, Cobra Ladies recieve Lisa Carr, 1 conversion by Chloe Hughes. new kit Bethesda 22 Welshpool 45. Pym the Plumber; Border Physio and Sports Injury Clinic and Dorian Lloyd Farrier Players from Clwb Rygbi’r Bala boxed in front of a sell-out crowd at the Neuadd Buddug in Bala on Saturday 3rd October.

Six fights were decided by points, four by techni- cal knock out and there were two draws. There were no losers and everyone that stepped into the ring that night was a winner.

Highlights of the evening were the slugging match between the two veteran fighters ‘Joci Jabiwr’ and ‘Branas the Barbarian’, the breathtaking brawl between ‘Lightening Lynch’ and ‘Danger- ous Dave’, Robin Cablyd’s comeback against the ‘Silent Assassin’, Psycho Swej’s wild hay makers, Tit-Lee T-bag’s entertaining entrance to the ring, and Dan ‘Y Llan’ Roberts’ right hook.

Despite a few lumps and bumps, there were no serious injuries. All the fighting stayed in the ring and everyone was well behaved in the town afterwards.

The promotor, Chris Edghill of Edghill Martial Arts Academy, was so impressed with the standard of the boxing that he said he would be happy for any of the lads to box for him.

The compere, Mark Wood, did a fantastic job of entertaining the crowd and Tamara Hanmer was a mesmerising ring girl.

Pictures by Trevor Edwards Bala RFC would like to thank everyone that made tonight such a success. There are far too many people to name individually, but special mention must go to the Clwb Rygbi’r Bala social commit- tee for organising the event, the numerous train- ers that prepared the lads for the boxing, and the army of other volunteers that have worked very hard behind the scenes.

Thanks to Aykroyds for being the main sponsors of the night, Teejacs for sponsoring the headline act, everyone that sponsored a boxer and the Plas Coch for running the bar. The 2nd half failed to get going for RGC, but they did score another 3 tries. Carwyn Ap Myrddin got his hatrick and the pick of the scores was one where he showed a good attacking line and amazing pace to race down the pitch.

Overall it was a case of enforced errors, as the home side looked to create chances to early instead of building on the phases. The coaching staff were clearly frustrated pitchside as they watched their players fail to do the basics right.

Substitute scrum-half Cam Davies touchdown near the end with a quick tap penalty to catch the Bridgend defence cold before Danny Cross converted.

A bonus point win is what it will say in the record books, but overall RGC will have to perform much better if they are to work their way up the table in the coming weeks. ‘ It was an exciting start by us and I felt it was important that we won the early kicking battle, an area that we had focused on in our pre- match preparations. To achieve the bonus point after only 15 minutes was testimony to both some great skills to finish scores as well as good decision making to put us in those positions. However 10 min- utes before halftime our concentration and thus our intensity waned for whatever reason and the half-time team talk was very much about getting us back on track. That we failed to do so was disappointing and we need to learn that if we want to be ruthless we need to keep our focus.

However overall we are in a good position as we finish our first bloc of games,- RGC have no fixture next Saturday-, and we can look back with a lot of pride to where we are in the table. Every game in this League is a challenge and it says much for this group of players that they are rising to that challenge.’
