Art September 2020 COVID chronicle by Karen Wilkin On artists in lockdown. ’ve been asking many artists—some with significant track records, some aspiring, some I students—about the effect of the changed world we’ve been living in since mid-March. The responses have been both negative and positive, sometimes at the same time. People complain of too much solitude or not enough, of the luxury of more studio time or the stress of distance from the workspace or—worst case—of having lost it. There’s the challenge of not having one’s usual materials and the freedom to improvise out of necessity, the lack of interruption and the frustration of losing direct contact with peers and colleagues, and more. The drastic alterations in our usual habits over the past months have had sometimes dramatic, sometimes subtle repercussions in everyone’s work. Painters in oil are using watercolor, drawing, or experimenting with collage; makers of large-scale paintings are doing small pictures on the kitchen table. Ophir Agassi, an inventive painter of ambiguous narratives, has been incising drawings in mud, outdoors, with his young daughters. People complain of too much solitude or not enough, of the luxury of more studio time or the stress of distance from the workspace or—worst case—of having lost it. Many of the artists I’ve informally polled have had long-anticipated, carefully planned exhibitions postponed or canceled. In partial compensation, a wealth of online exhibitions and special features has appeared since mid-March, despite the obvious shortcomings of seeing paintings and sculptures on screen instead of experiencing their true size, surface, color, and all the rest of it. -

We may first have experienced this movement as a longing for more, a wordless desire for union with something or someone beyond ourselves. Moments of union may have come to us in a sense of the sacred in nature, hearing music, or seeing the stars on a clear night. This longing may be more defined by our religious practices like the prayerful reading of scripture, receiving the sacraments, or various devotional practices. We have been drawn to Jesus Christ and now we are moving ever more deeply into who he is. Centering Prayer activates an existential relationship with Christ as one way of receiving the fullness of unconditional love pouring out of the depths of the trinity into creation and into us. as we sit in Centering Prayer, we are connecting with that immense flow of the divine life within us. it is as if our spiritual will turned on a switch, and the current (the divine life) that is present in our organism, so to speak, goes on and the divine energy flows.i t is already there waiting to be activated. “on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and exclaimed, ‘Let anyone who thirsts come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me as scripture says, rivers of living water will flow from within him’. This he said in reference to the spirit that those who came to believe in him were to receive” (John 7: 37-39). -

The episodes collected in the release form the middle of the series' mythology, and are centered on the discovery of a mind-altering extraterrestrial "black oil". The collection contains five episodes from the third season, eight from the fourth season, and two from the fifth. The episodes follow the investigations of paranormal-related cases, or X-Files, by FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). Mulder is a believer in the paranormal, while the skeptical Scully has been assigned to debunk his work. -

CASE STUDY IN BILBAO, SPAIN Xiao Fang1, Eduardo Rubio Ardanaz2 In a certain sense, Spain is a destination country for Chinese immigrants dominated by a new generation of immigrants. Due to various reasons such as the relative economic development level and language and culture, most of Spain are Chinese immigrants in the form of contract labor or family reunions. Strictly speaking, investment immigrants and high-skilled immigrants account for a very small proportion of Chinese immigrants in Spain. However, in the existing labor immigrants there are still some technical personnel who have received certain higher education or professional technical training in the past. Do a certain psychological analysis on the female immigrants in this group. In the face of tremendous changes in society, culture, and languages, skilled female immigrants will first encounter confusion about family and job choices. The huge gap between dreams and reality and unwillingness often motivates female skilled immigrants to gradually adjust their psychology, learn the local language more actively, understand local culture, participate in social and cultural activities in various ways, and are better at establishing communication with local people. Deconstructing The Lost Experience In-Depth Analysis of an ARG Ivan Askwith with Dr. Henry Jenkins and Dr. Joshua Green and Tim Crosby Deconstructing The Lost Experience: In-Depth Analysis Of An ARG | 2 Executive Summary This Is Not (Just) AnAdvertisement, a white paper produced for the Convergence Culture Consortium earlier this year, examined the evolution and significance of an emerging form of large-scale interactive campaigns referred to as alternate reality games, or ARGs. As that discussion noted, the term “ARG” is somewhat problematic, and functions less as a clear definition than as a working title for projects that tend to share certain characteristics. Campaigns are likely to be considered ARGs if they bear several of the following traits: - Interactive stories that unfold across media platforms and real-life spaces - Offer an interactive, dispersed narrative experience - Require participants to reconstruct elements of a fragmented narrative - Refuse to acknowledge themselves as games - Have no clear rules or guidelines for participants - Require participants to solve difficult challenges or puzzles to progress - Encourage or require the formation of collaborative player communitiesa While Not (Just) An Advertisement was written to provide a systematic overview tracing the evolution and possible applications of alternate reality games, this paper is intended to supplement that discussion with a detailed case study of a recent, high- profile ARG campaign called The Lost Experience, and in the process, to consider current challenges facing both content producers and corporate sponsors moving into the ARG space. Beginning with an in-depth discussion of the The Lost Experience’s framing, content, and public response, this paper assesses both the creative and strategic successes and failures of the campaign, considers the problems involved in integrating advertising content into an ARG’s narrative, and illustrates several current problems that designers and sponsors face in implementing ARG campaigns. -
