Rabbi Shaya Karlinsky We are delighted to be joined by Rabbi Shaya Karlinsky, Rosh Yeshiva of Shapell’s and Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya, on Sunday 25th November. Rabbi Karlinsky is a renowned Jewish educator and has a master’s degree in educational psychology. He will be joining us for a shiur following Shacharit (approx 9am) on “ in a post Zionist era”. Breakfast will be provided!

Cutting Edge Halachic Questions with Rabbi Roselaar at LSJS The Rav’s 5-week course of shiurim on “Cutting Edge Halachic Questions” at LSJS concludes this Monday evening 26th November at 8.00 p.m. This week’s topic is How do you pray in shul if you're not sure you believe in God? – further details, including booking, can be found at https://www.lsjs.ac.uk/cutting-edge-halachic-questions- 656.php. Horim v’Yeladim Please join us for the next Horim v'Yeladim. We will be running a pre-Chanuka programme on Motzaei Shabbat 1st December at 5:30pm in the shul. All school age children are welcome. A pizza dinner will be provided.

Children’s Chanukah Party Please join us for a morning fun-filled Chanukah carnival with games and activities followed by candle lighting and lunch. Book online at www.aleitzion.co.uk/booking Scholar-in-Residence – Rav Yuval Cherlow We are delighted to be hosting Rav Yuval Cherlow as Scholar in Residence on Shabbat 15th December. Rav Cherlow is a modern Orthodox Rabbi and . He is Rosh Yeshiva of Amit Orot in Ra’anana and one of the founders of Tzohar, an organisation which aims to bridge the gaps between religious and secular Jews in . Since 2001 Rav Cherlow has answered more than 30,000 online Halachic questions. His book Halacha c’beit Hillel tackles the concept of halachic methodology. Rav Cherlow is a member of the ethics committee of the Israeli Ministry of Health, as well as the committee that allocates the government budget for new drugs. This event is supported by the Chief Rabbi's Centre for Community Excellence.

Building Project The Leadership Team recently presented to the community our plans for the complete refurbishment of our shul. This project represents a hugely exciting new chapter in the journey of Alei Tzion which will facilitate our continued growth and development. Learning and Shiurim • Shabbat Afternoon Shiur – Rabbi Roselaar's Shabbat afternoon shiur takes place between Mincha and Ma'ariv and will be looking at a sugya from the forthcoming week's Daf Yomi from Massechet Menachot. • Gemara Shiur - MD Spitzer's Gemara Shiur takes place on Monday at 8:45pm in the shul, covering Massechet Megillah. • Parsha Shiur – Rabbi Roselaar’s Tuesday night parsha shiur will take place at 8:45pm in the shul. • Mishna Shiur – Rabbi Roselaar’s Wednesday night Mishna shiur is takes place following Ma'ariv in the shul.

Children’s Services • Toddler Service (Birth - Nursery): 10.50am-11.30am Includes songs, davening and Kiddush. • Middle Children Service (Reception - Year 2): 10.45am-11.30am Includes an introduction to Shabbat davening, games, parsha, quiz with the Rav and Kiddush. • Oldest Children Service (Year 3 - Year 6): 10.30am-11.30am Includes davening and interaction with the Sefer Torah. Children should say brachot before it starts. Nut and Sesame Free Zone – Allergy Policy As we have several children who have potential anaphylaxis to Nuts and Sesame, Alei Tzion is now a nut and sesame free zone. Please do not bring snacks to shul that contain either of these foods and especially please avoid bamba. If any other children have life threatening allergies, please let us know so that we can keep everyone safe!
