Role purpose:

We're looking for a UX/UI designer with at least ten years of experience to join our fast-paced, user-centric creative UX team – working on a wide range of exciting projects from the modernisation of our admission service, through to a radically improved information and advice service, with fun and intuitive decision making tools and mobile app experiences.

We're looking for a confident user experience designer full of ideas that can hit the ground running in a high pressured, dynamic environment. Experience of research techniques, following user-centric design principals, and collaborating with other UX designers and researchers is essential. You'll also be a natural innovator and not afraid to push the boundaries of what is possible, building strong UI patterns that are intuitive and accessible to all.

You will need to have a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and jQuery, with a passion for interaction design and examples of developing interactive prototypes using code, or prototyping like Axure RP, Adobe XD, Balsamiq, Figma, or . You must have a solid digital UI portfolio, and be able to talk confidently about your approach, and how you use user-centric design principles to produce your design solutions.

You will need to manage your time across a range of competing projects with demanding deadlines, while managing different stakeholder's expectations. You will also be expected to lead workshops and co- creation sessions to gain insights from users, explore ideas, develop experience maps, user journeys, and personas, to ensure we are developing evidence-based user experiences.

Key accountabilities:

• Develop wireframes and prototypes around customer needs. • Create experience maps, user journeys, and personas. • Design intuitive and accessible user experiences. • Design interfaces that are interactive and a pleasure to use. • Conduct one to one and remote user testing sessions to evaluate your wireframes and design prototypes. • Present design to teams and key stakeholders and share user testing feedback. • Contribute to our evolving pattern library and design framework codebase, making sure our patterns are testing and meet accessibility standards. • Manage workshops and lead on co-creation and ideate sessions.

Skills, qualifications, and experience:

• Ten-plus years proven experience working as a UX Designer. • You must have an established portfolio of projects with the ability to explain your approach. • Strong understanding of user-centred design principles. • Passion for user interface design with a keen eye for detail. • Experienced in using design and wireframing software like Axure RP, Adobe XD, Balsamiq, Figma, or Sketch. • Experience of designing for mobile apps. • Utilise atomic design principals to develop comprehensive pattern library and a universal design language that is accessible and flexible to meet both the user needs and evolving business requirements. • You must have strong typography and interactive design skills, with experience of conducting accessibility tests. • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams researching, wireframing, designing, and building digital products. • Collaborative team worker. • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively to both internal and external stakeholders, and to forge strong working relationships in a confident and friendly manner. • Practical experience of discovery methods including gathering requirements, evaluating user needs, running workshops, and user interviews. • Experience of defining project goals and deliverables through personas, journey maps, experience maps, service blueprints, and strategic design deliverables. • You will need to be confident at presenting and demoing ideas to large teams of people, and be able to quickly answer questions regarding your approach.
