Junior Newsletter 4/12/2013 Sponsors Volume 4 Junior Newsletter Junior News Another Round gone and only 1 game til Christmas, the season is cer- tainly moving at a fast pace. Congratulations to Cameron Vos who played his 50th Junior game for Wonga Park last round. It’s not easy playing 50 games in any sport more so in cricket which tends to run over 2 weekends instead of one, it’s even more impressive when the person playing that game is still GILMOUR DRAINAGE u14 with 2 years of Juniors to play, well done Cam. Excavator Hire For all your drainage needs The club would also like to congratulate the following boys on being 0414 306 739 selected to play in the RDCA representative sides in January: U12 - Addison Forbes Jay Winneke Jett Latchford U14 - Bailen Clarke Cameron Vos Caylen Forbes Eden Champion U16 - Ben White Sam Henkes (emergency) On a more sober note Ian Winneke has had to stand down as u12-1 coach effective immediately, while grateful that Ian put his hand up at the start of the season to help out, the club wishes him the best in the future. On a more positive note I am happy to announce Trevor Foster as the new coach, ably supported by Wayne Hartley on a Wednesday night with training, we wish them the best as they take up the reins for the rest of the season. I would also take this time to remind players, team officials and sup- porters that one of the reasons we play at Wonga Park is they spirit in which we play the game. Round 7 & 8. The under 10’s finally played at home against St. Andrews rd 7. and Croydon Ranges rd. 8. Under 12/1’s: Coach: Ian Winneke. Team Manager: John Colledge. Round 4. Finally we won a toss and decided to bat first. Addy & Dylan opened and both batted very well for a first wicket partnership of 48 with Ad- dy retiring on 31 and Dylan fell for 7. Tom Deany came in at No 3 and made 16, then Jacko who scored 11, Jay was next and unfortunately copped a really good ball first up and was gone. We were 3 for 61 when Tom Larder came out and put on a very valuable 29 run partnership before falling to an excellent one handed caught & bowled for 11. Tyler Parker was in next and enjoyed some good time out in the middle before being ran out for 19. Jett was next to bat and batted very well again making 25 runs. Liam came in at No 9 late in the innings and had instructions from the coach to watch the first couple of balls to get your eye in then hit out and Liam did exactly that hitting a GILMOUR DRAINAGE Excavator Hire quickfire 24. For all your drainage needs Both Zac Parker & Zac Duo came in with only a couple balls to face and ran 0414 306 739 for everything with Zac P sacrificing his wicket trying to get 1 last run for the team. Overall a great score by the boys batting all the overs for a total of 9/174. Then we bowled with Addy & Tom Deany opening. Addy bowling both the openers early and had them 2/4 after 5 overs. Addy finished his 6 overs with 3 maidens and taking 3/4 with 2 of those runs being 1 no ball & 1 wide so they hit 2 runs off the bat. Tom Deany bowled well although could not manage to get a wicket but did take another catch in the field, I don't think he has dropped a catch yet this season. Jett & Liam bowled next with Jett taking 1/15 and Liam 0/15. Jacko & Dylan than bowled together with Jacko taking 2/11 and getting 1 catch in the field, Dylan finished with 1/13. Jay & Zac Duo both bowled very well with Jay bowling 4 overs 3 maidens and taking 2 wickets for only 3 runs. Zac gave Tyler his first catch behind the stumps taking 1/3. Norwood all out for 76. We then batted for a further 12 overs, Jacko making 17 and Jay 6 not out. A great effort and a good win boys. John Colledge 3 Sponsors Under 12/3’s: Coach: Lachy Dennis. Team Manager: Susan Wyatt. Round 4. Round 4 saw WPCC u12-3s have their 2nd win to defeat South Croy- don CC 9/147 to 6/72. The boys are to be congratulated for reducing the extras bowled from 67 in round one to 52 in round four. Eleven maiden overs were made by 5 boys this round - compared to a total of only 4 maidens in the previous three rounds. A great bowling effort. We made 85 runs which is our highest score so far. A terrific partnership of 58 was made by Harry & Tom, with Tom being our first retiree for the season. There was plenty of excitement with 3 run outs by Tyler (2) & birthday boy Harry in the second week. Wickets were shared by Flynn (2), Harry, Liam & Tyler. Well done to all the boys. It is so pleasing to see the encouragement & team- work of all 12 players throughout the game. Thanks to the Carricks, Lorraine & Sue for their flexibility with the "alternative arrangements" for cooking the BBQ outdoors in week 2. We all look forward to another home game next round & hopefully some summery weather! Round 4 vs Heathmont Baptist What a finish … after 92 overs it came down to 3 runs between the 2 teams. Unfortunately we were on the losing end this time around, but from all re- ports it was a thrilling finish to the game. After winning the toss on week 1 we batted first and posted a competitive 1/68 with both Harry Harvey and Dylan Maxwell batting very well after we lost our first wicket in the 6th over. The boys then eagerly took to the field and all bowled very well to have Heathmont 6/78 after their 23 overs. It was a little disappointing to miss out on the first innings points but we felt we were in a great position to win. Moving on to the second week we continued bowling and Heathmont batted very well to end up on 7/145 after their 23 overs for the night. There were a few too many extra bowled this week, however this is something we have been working on and will look to further improvements during the coming games. The successful bowlers were Dylan Maxwell – 1/7, Ben Parker – 1/4, Hunter Keen – 1/22, Matt King – 1/14, Nick Felicissimo – 1/2, Harry Harvey – 2/5. There were also 4 catches taken by Ethan Lovell, Jake Deandrade, Dylan Maxwell and an apology as the last fielder was not written in the book. From here our run chase started and both Harry and Dylan retired after reaching 26 runs each. Cont... Again our focus at training on defending the good balls and attacking the bad ones appears to be working as we only lost a further 2 wickets for the rest of GILMOUR DRAINAGE the innings. Connor McGuire batted very well for 18 runs before being dis- Excavator Hire missed, followed on by Matt King and Liam Brown who batted out the rest of For all your drainage needs 0414 306 739 the innings. P.S. On last games match report I short changed some of the bowlers as I only reported 4 out of 9 wickets, so here’s a quick summary: Jake Deandrade – 1/10, Dean Papas – 2/6, Antonio Felicissimo – 2/5, Nick Felicissimo – 2/7, Matt King – 1/13 and Liam Brown – 1/16. 5 Sponsors Under 14/1’s: Coach: Deon Vos. Team Manager: Luke Clarke. Round 5. The under 14/1 played away at Lilydale and after the first week was washed out, we proceeded with a one day match the following week. Lilydale won the toss and sent us into bat. We started well with Eden Cham- pion making 33 runs before Sam Hennessey finished off with a timely 37 not out. Michael Basset held the innings together with a well constructed 18 not out to finish at 3/138 after 30 over's.

  • Jackson Freeman Named Giles Foster Scholar for 2016
MEDIA RELEASE Jackson Freeman named Giles Foster Scholar for 2016 Jackson Freeman has played at the Ringwood Rams since he was 10 years of age and today, at the age of 22, he was named the 2016 Giles Foster Scholarship (GFS) recipient. The scholarship will see him represent Great Preston Cricket Club (GPCC) during the 2016 English cricket season. Jackson being a born-and-bred Ringwood cricketer has both the cricketing credentials and the personal qualities to ensure he will make a significant contribution both on and off the field. Giles Foster Scholarship selection committee Chair Bob Giles, and members Stuart Giles (GFS co-founder), Sean Flynn, Darren Roe and Jason Evans – all former Ringwood teammates – agreed Jackson was the perfect recipient and had no hesitation in recommending him to the Epic Good Foundation Board that he be awarded the 2016 Scholarship. Stuart noted, ‘The final step for Cathie and I was to catch up with Jackson over dinner and we could not have come away from that meal more confident with the selection committee's recommendation and are delighted to have Jackson as the second Giles Foster Scholarship recipient.’ Jackson’s father Mark enjoyed a long and successful playing career with Ringwood and is the current Ringwood President whilst his grandfather was a long time Treasurer and along with his grandmother continues to volunteer at the club. Jackson also follows in his father’s footsteps in heading to the UK to play cricket in Yorkshire. Jackson progressed from the junior club up through the playing ranks to make his 1st XI debut in the 2013/14 season after collecting the competition Player of the Season award in the 2nd XI in 2012/13.
