In this newsletter you can read in more detail the work that DSSN Member Schools have been doing this term. You will also find enclosed details of our School Games Competitions and some information from our sponsors. It has been an amazing year with some great successes, and amazing achievements by pupils across Dacorum. Thank you to everyone for your support, and good luck to anyone moving onto new roles. KS1 Mini Olympics On Monday 4th June and Thursday 20th June DSSN held Olympic festivals for KS1 stu- dents. Students were asked to come repre- senting a country. There was an opening cere- mony where they celebrated their country and met the Dacorum mascot dragon. Students then headed off to compete in their activities. Students took part in, Football, Javelin, Kurl- ing, Relay Races, Space Hopper races, Boccia, Long Jump and Basketball. A massive thank you and well done to all lead- ers that helped us run these events!

On Friday 14th June, DSSN ran the district Netball Tournament at Laureate . 12 schools took part with a total of 13 teams. Schools were spilt into pools and played each other. Winners form each group then went onto the Quarter Finals, and then Semi Finals were played. A close final was fought between Grove Road and Kings Langley with Grove Road coming out victorious on the day. The event was a huge success with lots of parents and friends as spectators. Well done to all teams who took part, thank you to all the umpires and for hosting the tournament.

Rounder's Tournament

On Monday 15th June we held our last competition of the academic year. Teams attended Longdean School to take part in this years rounder's tournament. Teams were split into pools where teams played each other delivering 15 good balls each. After all pool games were played the quarter finals took place followed by the semi finals. Congratulations to Bovingdon and Two Waters who were crowned joint winners on the day! Well done to all teams!

This terms School Games competitions have mainly focused on Primary schools with winning schools of these events taking part in the School Games County finals on Friday 5th July. Competitions included Kwik Cricket, Girls Kwik cricket, Mini Tennis, Yr4 Tri Golf, Quicksticks and change4life.

Mixed Kwik Cricket Mini Red Tennis

Once all stations were complete the scores were collated. Well done to Bovingdon Academy who finished in 1st place!

Quicksticks

On Wednesday 12th June schools took part in this years quicksticks competition. Teams played matches within their pools with winners going forward into semis and finals.

Girls Kwik Cricket The Girls Kwik Cricket event took place on Tuesday 18th June at Cricket Club. 13 teams took part from across Dacorum, games were played in three pools across three pitches. All teams played very well on the day and battled through the rain! Well done to Hobletts Manor team who were crowned winners on the day. Thank you to Kings Langley leaders and Hemel Hemp- stead cricket club for hosting.

Herts School Games Finals On Friday 5th July, teams from across Dacorum travelled to Oaklands College in St Albans to perform at the Level 3 School Games Competition. Events included Mixed Kwik Cricket, Quicksticks, Mini Tennis, Tri Golf, Inclusive Tri Golf, Inclusive Rapid Fire and Change4Life Carousel. The event started with an opening ceremony, where students heard from an Athlete role model and poems created by local schools within the county, all poems were focused on the School Games values. Children were then dispersed to their relevant areas to start their competitions. Teams did extremely well and came up against some tough competition on the day. Well done to everyone for taking part. Yewtree Primary school also attended on the day to take part in a carousel of activities—the children that came had a fantastic time, and are now hopefully going to continue doing some of the activities they took part in.

During the breaks pupils also had the opportunity to let off steam on the bouncy castles—A big hit— Well done
