Orang ramai yang membanjiri Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur menyambut Tahun Baru 2020 dengan penuh ceria baru-baru ini. Sambutan itu dimeriahkan lagi dengan persembahan Light Show in The Sky sempena Tahun Melawat Malaysia 2020 anjuran Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya (MOTAC). Persembahan berwarna-warni itu turut diserikan dengan percikan bunga api yang menerangi dada langit Kuala Lumpur. Pendinding yang diamalkan hendaklah memohon perlindungan daripada Allah SWT dan selaras dengan kehendak dan syariat Islam. Kajian dijalankan terhadap sejumlah usahawan Melayu Kelantan kerana orang Melayu Kelantan, khususnya wanita, banyak yang terlibat dalam dunia perniagaan. Kajian dilaksanakan menggunakan dua kaedah, iaitu kajian kepustakaan dan kajian lapangan. Kaedah kajian kepustakaan digunakan untuk membina kerangka konsep yang berkaitan dengan pendinding dalam akidah Islam, manakala kajian lapangan dilakukan dalam bentuk temu bual dengan usahawan Melayu Kelantan yang terpilih. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa segelintir usahawan Melayu Kelantan masih lagi tidak mengamalkan konsep pendinding yang sebenar menurut perspektif akidah Islam kerana terlibat dengan kepercayaan yang mengandungi unsur syirik dan khurafat. Case Study Women in Politics: Reflections from Malaysia Wan Azizah Women constitute half of humanity, and it follows that any decision-making, whether at the personal, family, societal or public levels, should be mindful of and involve the participation of women in the making of those decisions. Women’s political, social and economic rights are an integral and inseparable part of their human rights. Democracy is an inclusive process, and therefore in a functioning democracy, the points of view of different interest groups must be taken into account in formulating any decision. The interest and opinions of men, women and minorities must be part of that decision-making process. Yet far from being included in the decision-making process, women find themselves under-represented in political institutions. Numerous challenges confront women entering politics. Among them are lack of party support, family support and the "masculine model" of political life. Many feel that Malaysian society is still male dominated, and men are threatened by the idea of women holding senior posts. In the political sphere this is compounded by the high premium placed on political power. This makes some men even less willing to share power with women.

    COUNTRIES AT THE CROSSROADS Countries at the Crossroads 2012: Malaysia Introduction Malaysia has over 28 million people, of whom approximately 63 percent are ethnic Malay, 25 percent Chinese, 7 percent Indian, and 4 percent Ibans and Kadazan-Dusun.1 Much of this diversity was created through the British formation of an extractive colonial economy, with the “indigenous” Malay community ordered into small holdings and rice cultivation, while the “non-Malays” were recruited from China and India into tin mining and plantation agriculture. Further, in preparing the territory for independence in 1957, the British fashioned a polity that was formally democratic, but would soon be encrusted by authoritarian controls. Throughout the 1960s, greater urbanization brought many Malays to the cities, where they encountered the comparative prosperity of the non-Malays. They perceived the multiethnic coalition that ruled the country, anchored by the United Malays National Organization (UMNO), but including the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA) and the Malayan Indian Congress (MIC), as doing little to enhance their living standards. At the same time, many non-Malays grew alienated by the discrimination they faced in accessing public sector resources. Thus, as voters in both communities swung to opposition parties in an election held in May 1969, the UMNO-led coalition, known as the Alliance, was gravely weakened. Shortly afterward, Malays and Chinese clashed in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, sparking ethnic rioting known as the May 13th incident. Two years of emergency rule followed during which parliament was closed. As the price for reopening parliament in 1971, UMNO imposed new curbs on civil liberties, thereby banning any questioning of the Malay “special rights” that are enshrined in constitution’s Article 153.

Lim also said that an official letter would be sent to Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo on the matter. This came after RTM did not broadcast live the speeches by Loke and Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun at the event, except for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s speech. Also present at the event was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.     22/10/1999 Court to decide today on bid to recall SAC Musa KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs. - The High Court will decide tomorrow whether to allow the defence in Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial to recall the investigating officer. Judge Datuk Arifin Jaka deferred decision today after hearing submissions by counsel for the respective parties. Arifin will also make a ruling whether the officer, SAC1 Musa Hassan, should be recalled before or after Anwar and co-accused Sukma Darmawan Sasmitaat Madja testify, since the defence had started its case when it delivered its opening statements today before calling witnesses. Anwar and Sukma, who is his adopted brother, are charged with sodomising former driver Azizan Abu Bakar in 1993. Sukma, a businessman, is also facing a second charge of abetting Anwar to sodomise Azizan who is the former driver of Anwar's wife Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. The High Court had on Monday ordered them to enter their defence. In applying to recall Musa, Karpal Singh said the defence wished to enlist his assistance to verify Anwar's alibi. Counsel said Anwar's defence of alibi depended very much on the verification, otherwise he would be unable to put up an effective defence. "It is in the best interest of all concerned if the alibi was verified for fear of a mistrial," Karpal Singh said when Arifin asked what clarification he was seeking from Musa. Karpal Singh said he suspected that what was being done in the case was not in accordance with the law. "Let's correct it at this stage and save the court from being embarrassed in the Court of Appeal later on," he said, pointing that the "error" could still be corrected at this stage.

Third, Munir Bani said Azmin was appointed because he was the deputy president of PKR, but isn’t Azizah even more qualified as the president of the party? Fourth, if there was no hidden hands of politics, why had the palace persisted in keeping a distance from her despite her proven majority by not responding to her request for an audience - not once, but three times?
