Derek Whittaker Mr. McQueen Mr. Whittaker’s prior productions with Nashville Rep include Cabaret, Clybourne Park, Little Shop of Horrors, Death of a Salesman, Inherit the Wind, and four years as “Ralphie” in A Christmas Story. Other local credits include Hello, Dolly!, Twelve Angry Men, It’s A Wonderful Life, Gypsy (Studio Tenn); As You Like It, Othello, Twelfth Night, The Winter’s Tale (Nashville Shakespeare Festival); , Chicago, A Tuna Christmas (Chaffin’s Barn). Matthew Carlton Senator Fipp Matthew has been performing on the Rep stage since 1990. He was last seen as Rev. Brown in Inherit the Wind. Other favorite roles at the Rep include, Sweeney (), Martin (The Goat or Who is Sylvia) and Victor (Frankenstein). He has been a proud member of the Actors Equity Association (the professional union of stage actors) for over 30 years. Samuel Whited Officer Barrel Samuel Whited has worked as an actor, stage manager and director in and around Nashville for 30 years. He has been seen in various venues for such companies as Tennessee Repertory Theatre (Inherit the Wind, Darwin in Malibu, A Christmas Story), Nashville Children’s Theatre (The Cat in the Hat, Wind in the Willows, Number The Stars), Tennessee Shakespeare Festival (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, A Comedy Of Errors), Nashville Shakespeare Festival (Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Merry Wives of Windsor), Mockingbird Theatre (Dearly Departed, Hamlet, The Southern Christmas Sampler) and People’s Branch Theatre (1984, Madwoman of Chaillot). Rona Carter Josephine “Ma” Strong, ensemble Ms. Carter is grateful to be returning to the Rep this season. Her last appearance was in A Doll’s House, Part 2 as the very loyal Anne Marie. Some of her past roles at the Rep include Raynelle in Dearly Departed, Felicia Dantine in I Hate Hamlet, Sister Aloysius in Doubt, Linda Logan in Death of A Salesman, and Mrs. Jennings in Sense and Sensibility. She has also appeared on the stages of Nashville Shakespeare Festival and will be appearing in Nashville Children’s Theatre production of Auntie Claus. Garris Wimmer Hot Blades Harry, ensemble Garris is thrilled to be back onstage at Nashville Rep. He is a founding company member of Tennessee Repertory Theatre and was first onstage with the Rep’s inaugural season musical West Side Story. He has appeared on Hee Haw and was on over 1500 episodes of Nashville Now as a member of the award-winning Nashville Now Singers. Garris left Nashville in 1991 and toured Europe in Jesus Christ Superstar and then he moved to NYC where he found work in regional theatres across the country. Recent credits include: Scott Wellesley Girl (Pipeline), Patsy in Spamalot and Juror #11 in Twelve Angry Men (Studio Tenn); Zell in Nate Eppler’s Good Monsters (Nashville Rep).; Feste in Twelfth Night (Nashville Shakespeare Festival) and Smudge in Forever Plaid (Westside Cafe, NYC).

Tamiko Robinson Steele Little Becky Two-Shoes, ensemble Tamiko Robinson Steele is a Nashville native and alumnae of Tennessee State University. Being no stranger to the Nashville stages, she has picked up a few awards along the way: 2011 voted BEST ONE WOMAN SHOW (Miracle In Rwanda), 2017 BEST NASHVILLE THEATRE ACTRESS, 2018 TOP 3 BEST NASHVILLE ACTOR, all by the Nashville Scene. Also in 2018, she was voted BEST ACTRESS at the International Black Film Festival, for her role in the short film38 . She bribed all of these people of course. Ha! Scott Rice Tiny Tom, ensemble Scott is excited to be returning to Nashville Rep after appearing as Martin Van Buren in the 2017 production of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Recent credits include The Cradle Will Rock (Nashville Opera), A Tuna Christmas, Red White and Tuna, and Tuna Does Vegas (Chaffin’s Barn), It’s A Wonderful Life (Studio Tenn), Mary Poppins (ATPro), Macabaret and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Street Theatre), and Arcadia (Blackbird), Les Misérables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Assassins, Urinetown, Lucky Stiff, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Secret Garden, How to Succeed…, Epic Proportions, Godspell, Sweeney Todd, Guys & Dolls, Little Shop of Horrors, and the title role in McBeth! Meggan Utech Soupy Sue, ensemble Meggan is so happy to make her mainstage debut at Nashville Rep with Urinetown. Most recently, she got to work with the Rep in the New Ingram Works Festival in two different original works (The Messenger, Crying on Television). She just finished up Studio Tenn’s production of Mamma Mia, and soon she will be filled with the Christmas spirit at Nashville Children’s Theatre for their premier work Auntie Claus. She was also in their production of The Little Mermaid last season. Her big Nashville theatre breakthrough came thanks to her role as Deloris VanCartier in at Chaffin’s Barn. Other roles/shows include the Ray Charles Legacy for Studio Tenn, Daniella (), Joanne (), and Dionne (Hair). She also loves belting out background vocals for Alanna Royale.

Mike Sallee Robby the Stockfish, ensemble Mike Sallee is a singer/songwriter out of Indianapolis, IN with a for a life on the stage. Sallee cannot be more thrilled and blessed to be experiencing his first equity production with Nashville Repertory Theatre. He is truly thankful for the opportunity to work alongside and learn from such amazing talent. Sallee started off as Understudy for Seaweed/ensemble for back in high school, and then moved on to California with credits including, Benny in RENT and Simon Zealotes in Jesus Chris Superstar. His Nashville theatre credits include Jack Kelly in , Frederick Douglass in Civil War The Musical, Antipholus of Ephesus/C-Fak/Backup Dancer in The Bomb-Itty of Errors, Lucas in If/Then, Chris in Sweat, and Romeo/Mush in Newsies. “Performing is my passion. I believe there to be no better outlet to express ones story.”

Maria Logan Billy Boy Bill, ensemble Maria Logan is so excited to be back in her hometown of Nashville to be part of Urinetown at Nashville Repertory Theatre! Juan Graterol Ensemble Juan Carlos Graterol, Jr. has been performing theatre in Nashville since 2015. Juan recently graduated from Nashville School of the Arts where he performed the roles of Link Larkin in Hairspray and Lockstock in Urinetown: The Musical. He has also appeared in The Theater Bug’s productions of You’re Still Here, Second Hand Wings, and Showmance portraying the characters Will, Khalid, and Puppeteer. Juan is incredibly proud to be able to represent his Hispanic culture in the Nashville theatre scene, and hopes to inspire other young Hispanics to pursue acting and find a home within the theater community just like Juan has.

Ayla Williams Ensemble Ayla Williams is a 17 year old homeschool student from Nashville, Tennessee. Some of her regional credits include: Young Louise, Gypsy, Studio Tenn, Young Mary, It’s a Wonderful Life, Studio Tenn, Bielke, Fiddler on the Roof, Studio Tenn. She has also loved the opportunity to originate roles in original plays and musicals at The Theater Bug since the age of 10. For nearly 30 years, Jason has directed and music directed countless productions for schools, colleges, community theaters, dinner theaters, and regional theaters throughout the U.S. He directed Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and The Last Five Years here at the Rep as well as music directed Shakespeare In Love, Avenue Q, Sweeney Todd, and Chicago. Elsewhere in Nashville, Jason spent two years as Artistic Director for Street Theatre Company where he directed productions of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, , Assassins, Pippin, Urinetown, and Lucky Stiff. He recently music directed Studio Tenn’s productions of Always… Patsy Cline and Joseph…, and with Blackbird Theater he directed the original play Twilight of the Gods and music directed the original musical Myth. Jason lives in Nashville with his wife, Amanda, and his two sons, Mixon and Mercer.

Pamela Atha Choreographer Pamela is happy to be joining the Urinetown team headed by Jason Tucker. Recently she provided “the steps” for Shakespeare In Love and Sense And Sensibility under the direction of Rene Copeland. Other Rep credits include choreography for Chicago, Company and Cabaret. Pamela calls Nashville home and is a proud teaching artist for TPAC Education programs, ARTSMART and Disney Musicals In Schools. Regionally, last year she served as resident artist at Frances Marion University in SC, and is choreographer/actor for The Lost Colony outdoor drama on the outer banks of NC.

Teresa Driver Stage Manager Teresa Driver is excited to be working on Urinetown with Nashville Rep. Kelsi Fulton Assistant Music Director Kelsi is thrilled to be at the Rep! An Indiana native who’s resided in Nashville since 2009, Kelsi holds degrees in church music (B.S., Anderson University) and piano performance (M.M., Belmont University). Touted by gospel artist Sandi Patty as “an outstanding musician and exceptional pianist,” and Broadway critic Joshua Rosenblum as “a wonderfully gifted musician who plays piano with impressive technique, inspiring musicianship, and a solid sense of rhythm,” Kelsi is a highly sought-after musical theatre music director, pianist, and vocal coach. Recently seen in the orchestra pit for the Broadway tour of Wicked as well as serving as the associate conductor for the world premiere of the TYA Tuck Everlasting, Kelsi has had the opportunity to collaborate with countless award-winning performers. Gary C. Hoff Scenic Design Mr. Hoff is now designing his twentieth season for Nashville Rep. “This is going to be a very exciting season here at Nashville Rep and thank you for being part of this continuing adventure. We are very excited about all the new possibilities that lie before us.” He says, “Your positive support for the design work and technical work at the Rep over the past 20 years has been overwhelming. I would like to thank all those who made the production designs come to life, not only the talented staff at the Rep, but all of those businesses and individuals that have made it all possible.” In addition to designing for Nashville Rep, he has designed for Nashville Children’s Theatre, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, Tennessee Shakespeare Festival, and Dollywood Theme Park. He was included as one of the six “virtuoso” designers in American Theatre Magazine and was the recipient of the Ingram Individual Artist Fellowship in Theatrical Scene Design from the Tennessee Arts Commission. Christopher L. Jones Director of Production Originally from Arizona, Christopher completed his undergraduate studies at New Mexico State University and earned his graduate degree from the University of Connecticut. He has over twenty five years of experience working for various regional theaters such as Arizona Theatre Company, the American Southwest Theatre Company, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre, Hartford Stage, Goodspeed Musicals, Yale Opera, Boston’s Playwrights Theatre, Playhouse On Park and The Ballard Institute of Puppetry. He has also worked at some of the major theater festivals in the United States such as Utah Shakespeare Festival, The New York Fringe Festival, Old Pueblo Playwright’s New Play Festival, The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theatre Festival, The Provincetown Dance Festival, the New Orleans Tennessee Williams Literary Festival, and the Puppeteers of America’s National Convention. Tucker Steinlage Master Carpenter Originally from Georgia, Mr. Steinlage graduated from the University of Evansville with a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology. He started his college career in sound design, but quickly found his home in the scene shop where he worked as both a designer and technical director. Tucker has worked as a carpenter on both the east coast at Opera Saratoga and the Mountains of Colorado at Aspen Opera Center. He decided to start his professional career in Nashville and back in the south because of all the incredible opportunities found here and the severe lack of Waffle House everywhere else. Tucker is a big supporter of the arts and his art department back at UE where he helped jumpstart the metal working section of the campus sculpture studio. Currently he is working on honing his skills as a blacksmith with the goal of one day opening his own shop where he can make weapon-smith for stage and screen. IG: @Tuck_stein

Kristen Goodwin Assistant Stage Manager Kristen Goodwin in thrilled to be working as the Stage Management Intern at the Nashville Repertory Theatre this season. Having just graduated in May from SUNY Oneonta with a BS in Theatre, she is so excited about this opportunity! Previous credits include 9 to 5 The Musical (Stage Manager) and Barefoot in the Park (Assistant Stage Manager) at SUNY Oneonta.

Lori Gann-Smith Costume Manager This is Lori’s second season with the Rep as Costume Manager. Lori received her B.S. in Speech & Theatre from Middle Tennessee State University and an M.F.A. in Costume Design from the University of Georgia. She was the Chair of Art & Design at Brenau University from 2014-2018 and the Fashion Design Program Director there from 2007-2018. Lori has worked as a costume designer for many producing organizations such as Tennessee State University, Hippodrome State Theatre, Gainesville Theatre Alliance, West Virginia Public Theatre and most recently for Nashville Rep for Shakespeare in Love. Lori has also served as a costume technician, stylist and costume designer for film and music videos. Lakeland Gordon Wardrobe Supervisor Lakeland Gordon received her Bachelors of Science in Theatre Arts from The University of Southern Mississippi. From Cookeville, TN, she has been involved in theatre since 2012, and has found her passion in costume design. In the past Lakeland has been Asst. Costume Designer for Peter and the Starcatcher and The Illusion. She has also been the Wardrobe Supervisor for Cabaret as well as Silent Sky.

Lauren Terry Costume Technician Lauren Terry is excited to join Nashville Repertory Theatre this season! Originally from Evansville, Indiana, Lauren attended Ouachita Baptist University, where she received her BFA in Musical Theatre. Favorite technical credits include Auto-da-fé (director), Oklahoma (assistant director), and Emerge Laborant (costume designer). Emily Irene Peck Rentals Manager Ms. Peck is a recent transplant to the Nashville area after graduating with a BA in Theatre: Design and Technology from University of North Iowa where she focused her studies in costume design and technology. She’s honored to be in her first season with the Rep. She has also worked as a design assistant and stitcher at American Shakespeare Center on Macbeth, Taming of the Shrew, and Love’s Labors Lost. Her college career included designing costumes for ’s Doubt, stitching and patterning in her program’s costume shop on numerous productions, and serving as dramaturg and paint charge.

Erica Jo Lloyd Artistic Associate Erica Jo Lloyd is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she created theatre with a variety of organizations including Theatre Cedar Rapids, Urban Theater Project of Iowa, Brucemore Classics, and Brucemore Children’s Theatre and she founded the Underground New Play Festival which will be producing it’s 100th new play in 2019. Now a resident of Nashville, Erica is thrilled to be a part of Nashville Repertory Theatre as the Artistic Associate where she gets to work on the Ingram New Works Project; one of the coolest things of which she’s ever gotten to be a part. She holds a BFA in Theatre Directing and Arts Administration from Viterbo University but her true love is playwrighting. Erica is devoted to bringing more roles for women to the stage and has joined the Artistic Council of Woven Theatre where she hopes to be able to create even more new theatre.

R. Preston Perrin Scene Shop Foreman R. Preston Perrin has been heavily involved in the Nashville theatre scene after moving here in 2017. Hailing from the mountains of North Carolina, Perrin spends his time working as a carpenter, actor, stitcher, and stage manager for a variety of organizations across the greater Nashville area. His most recent scenic credits include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Studio Tenn), Jack and the Giant (ACT 1), and Shakespeare in Love (Nashville Repertory Theatre). In addition, Perrin has stage managed the End Slavery Monologues (End Slavery Tennessee), Elf: The Musical (Chaffin’s Barn), and Smoke: A Ballad of the Night Riders (The Bell Witch Fall Festival). With a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Education from Appalachian State University, Perrin has training in the Suzuki method of acting, as well as, an extensive background in costume and scenic construction. Maggie Jackson Run Crew A Tennessee native, Maggie has been based in Nashville since 2014. She attended Belmont University and graduated with a BFA in Theatrical Production Design. Some of her favorite productions include award winning Alice written by Ara Vito, an immersive telling of By the Bog of , and her experiences partnered with local theatre company, Actors Bridge, for their productions of Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls and Men on Boats. She is very thankful for the opportunity to learn and continue growing within the Nashville Repertory Theatre. She looks forward to an amazing season.

Karch Abramson Run Crew Karch Abramson is a skilled young filmmaker. He is proficient in camera operation, audio mixing, technical directing and editing. He also is a thespian and proficient in theatre and on screen acting. He graduated from Nashville Film Institute in April 2019 and has also worked with NECAT on their show “Our Nashville.”

Mark Hollman Music and Lyrics Mark Hollmann received the Tony Award®, the National Broadway Theatre Award, and the for his score to Urinetown the Musical, which had its start in the 1999 New York International Fringe Festival. It won Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, and Awards for best musical in addition to garnering 10 Tony Award® nominations. Other shows as composer/lyricist include Yeast Nation (2011 New York International Fringe Festival, Perseverance Theatre, American Theatre Company, and ), Bigfoot and Other Lost Souls (Atlantic Stage and Perseverance Theatre), The Man in the White Suit (New York Stage and Film), The Girl, the Grouch, and the Goat (University Theatre, U. of Kansas), Alchemist the Musical (Seattle Fringe Festival), Jack the Chipper (Greenview Arts Center, Chicago), Kabooooom! (University Theater, U. of Chicago), I Think I Can and Deal with It! (Berkshire Theatre Festival), and Fare for All (Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden, NYC). Actor and/or co-writer for the Cardiff Giant Theater (Chicago) productions The Rack, Theater of Funny, The Mercy Ripper, LBJFKKK, Love Me, All Eight Die, and After Taste, the last of which he also directed. TV: songs for Disney Channel’s Johnny and the Sprites. He has served on the Tony Nominating Committee, serves on the Council of the Dramatists Guild of America, and is a member of ASCAP. He is also a member of Sure Foundation Lutheran Church in Woodside, Queens, where he serves as a part-time pianist. He and his wife Jilly live in Manhattan with their sons, Oliver and Tucker.

Greg Kotis Book and Lyrics Greg Kotis wrote the book and co-wrote the lyrics for Urinetown the Musical, for which he won two Tony Awards in 2002. His new play, Pig Farm, opened at The Roundabout Theatre in and at The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego in 2006. Currently, he is developing two new musicals with Mark Hollmann: Yeast Nation (the triumph of life), an original story that tells the tale of the dawn of life on Earth, and The Man in the White Suit, a musical version of the 1951 Alec Guiness film. Other plays includeEat the Taste (at New York’s Barrow Street Theatre), Jobey and Katherine, Baron von Siebenburg Melts Through the Floorboards, and Give the People What They Want. Greg lives in Brooklyn with his wife Ayun, his daughter India, and his son Milo.
