TRIENNIAL GIVING REPORT 2013-2016 INVESTING IN SCHOLARSHIPS, FUTURES AND DREAMS A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Morehouse College Donor Community: As president of Morehouse College, it is with deep gratitude that I thank you for remaining steadfast in supporting and investing in More- house. It is your spirit of philanthropy, coupled with your commitment to our mission to develop men who exhibit Morehouse’s values, tradi- tions and expectations, that propels the College towards the world of our dreams. Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” With your generosity, we are strengthening our financial base to ensure that we can effectively and consistently accomplish our task of educating men who demonstrate acuity, practice integrity, exhibit agency, are committed to brotherhood and lead consequential lives. Ultimately, your investment in Morehouse helps us establish the level of financial freedom that is required to sustain and expand that work. With your support, we are looking towards a significantly larger endowment, improving and modernizing our campus and creating extensive partnerships with national and international corporate and philanthropic communities. This triennial report provides an in-depth look at giving to Morehouse over the past three years from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016. It highlights our most critical fundraising initiatives and many of the powerhouse alumni, trustee, student and corporate donors who make those initiatives successful. Your gifts to Morehouse remain vital to our financial future. As we prepare to celebrate the College’s Sesquicentennial (www.morehouse150th.com) Anni- versary, let us pause and reflect on the support for the College during the last three years, and then turn our sights to the next 150 years. This triennial report recognizes the supporters that answered an appeal, accepted a challenge, provided in-kind support, fulfilled a pledge, established a new scholarship or con- tributed to an existing one. And, while there are not enough words to adequately express our profound appreciation for your investment in Morehouse and the young men that we serve, I will simply say thank you. Not only did Morehouse meet the soft drink giant's challenge, they surpassed it and did so more than two weeks before the June, 30, 2016 deadline. 'To me this victory is about so much more than meeting the challenge,' shared More- house President John Silvanus Wilson, Jr. 'It's about the sense of loyalty alumni have for our alma mater and their willingness time and time again to answer and act when she calls.' Ultimately, Morehouse is extremely grateful to The Coca-Cola Foundation for issuing the challenge and inspiring a movement among alumni to support the institution's most critical needs. The College is also most appreciative of every gift and every alumnus who made it possible, proving once again that when alumni step up, Morehouse stands out! 2 RIVERS, PERRY LEAD GIVING FOR COCA-COLA CHALLENGE Rufus Rivers '86 Verdun Perry '94 While almost 1,200 alumni Mr. Perry has an M.B.A. from accepted the Coke Challenge, two Harvard Business School, where were especially generous in their he was a Robert Toigo Foundation support.
