December 2014, Old Dominion University A Thesis Submitted to the Faculty of Old Dominion University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY May 2016 Approved by: Gon Namkoong (Director) Helmut Baumgart (Member) Abdelmageed Elmustafa (Member) ABSTRACT CARBON AND BORON NITRIDE NANOTUBE FABRICATED SUPERCAPACITORS Derek Christian Demuth Old Dominion University, 2016 Director: Dr. Gon Namkoong The fabrication of supercapacitor devices consisting of boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has great theoretical capabilities of high specific capacitance, energy density, and power density. Various methods of dispersion and deposition are utilized to optimize such supercapacitors with BNNTs and CNTs, and also to produce devices with only CNTs to use as a benchmark.
