    2008-09 Volleyball- Coach Helen Jahr 11-14 Leading the way this season in the newly renamed Minnesota Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) are returning sophomores Tiffany Preuss, Ashley Lau, and power hitting Brooke Monson (all-conference last year). As Coach Jahr prepares for her 16th season, she is excited for the upcoming season and really likes her incoming freshmen. The season opened in high fashion with a road victory over Pillsbury College of Owatonna, winning by scores of 25-22, 26-24, and 25-10. Ashley Lau had a productive night with six kills and helped power her team to a convincing third game after two close games. “We attacked hard and did a good job at the net” said Coach Helen Jahr. Riverland Community College won its second straight match with a sweep of Gogebic College as they rolled to wins of 25-13, 25-8, and 25-21. This was the season opener of Gogebic and the long bus ride showed it. “They were a much tougher opponent in the third game” said Jahr. Brooke Monson led with 5 kills and 3 blocks on the night. Lau led with a team high nine kills. RVLD hosted Western Technical College and Gogebic over the weekend and with some strong serving they improved to 4-0 as they defeated both opponents in 3 games.
