In 2013, India was the 4th biggest consumer and net importer of crude and petroleum products in the world (Barpatragohain, 2015). As the country is essentially dependent on energy import, any shortfall due to unforeseen geopolitical situation may cause acute energy scarcities which will consecutively impede the industrial growth and economic progress. In order to achieve energy independence, the dependency on imported oil has to be reduced by developing alternate energy sources. If renewable power systems deliver such impressive benefits, but still we produce only 20-25% percent of national electricity generation in the India. The share of renewable energy sources, primarily wind and solar is poised to growth significantly power system. The In dian government has set a target of 175 GW of installed renewable capacity by 2022. Including 60GW of wind and 100 GW of Solar, up from an installed capacity of 29 GW wind and 9 GW solar at the beginning of 2017. Whether the target is achievable or not will be determined by market and policy led forces. However a key question that arises is what would be the operational impact of meeting these targets and what actions can be taken for effective integration of renewables. -

Wind energy is an important source of renewable energy in India. Many of the largest operational onshore wind farms are located in the United States, India and China. This article throws light on the advantages and disadvantages of wind parks. Wind Farm/Park - Meaning & Types A wind farm or wind park, also called a wind power station or wind power plant, is a group of wind turbines in the same location used to produce electricity. Wind farms vary in size from a small number of turbines to several hundred wind turbines covering an extensive area. Types of Wind Farm/Parks 1. Onshore - Wind turbines harness the energy of moving air to generate electricity. Onshore wind refers to turbines located on land 2. Offshore - offshore turbines are located out at sea or in freshwater. During the last decade, it has been tremendous growth, both in size and power energy converters. The wind has proven to be a very effective source of energy due to technological richness, infrastructure, and relative cost attractiveness. The world has enormous potential for wind energy that should be utilized for electricity generation. At present, there are 1872 wind Turbines working in the district and production capacity is over 1506.41 MW wind electricity per year. The Maharashtra states had total installed wind power generation capacity about 4789 Mw (2018). It was the third largest installed capacity among all states of the country’s wind power energy. The total installed power energy generation capacity was 43779 Mw after the end of 2018. It was 11 per cent of the total energy generation of India. Satara district accounting the largest share of wind power production in the state 5439 MW in Maharashtra total India's wind power energy production 34,293 MW. The companies like BHEL, NEPC, REPL, Vestas RRB, IWPL/ NEG-Micon, Pioneer Wincon, Suzlon, Enercon, Regen, and Ganesa are generating wind electricity. -

There is no offshore wind industry in Australia at present; however, offshore wind could have great potential. There is no published discussion of the economics of offshore wind on a national scale in Australia, so this paper offers analysis which may inform future policy and technology discussions. The main purpose of this study is to determine the economic viability of offshore wind in Australia, and consider the effect that policy has on the future viability of this technology in Australia. The analysis of the economic feasibility indicates that offshore wind is generally twice the cost of onshore wind but that there is a lot less certainty in offshore wind costs than for onshore wind. Offshore wind developments however are typically cheaper than large-scale solar PV and Thermal. The expected cost of offshore wind in Australia in 2012 is between $100-330/MWh in Australian 2012 dollars. This report finds that offshore wind is cheaper than some competing technologies including most large-scale solar PV and thermal developments. There are also a number of suitable locations for development of offshore wind in Australia. The policy framework at present is uncertain, but there exists a number of schemes that could be applicable to offshore wind, making it feasible to incorporate offshore wind into the renewable energy supply using the usual funding and finance models. This dissertation finds that while there are many uncertainties, offshore wind development is feasible in Australia given the existing conditions. -
