We’re getting ready for York Academy’s spring musical, School of Rock! It’s based on the 2003 movie with Jack Black! If you would like to sing, dance, act, or play an instrument now is your chance! We’re holding auditions the first full week of January, and looking to start at the end of February (Pit will start earlier). Rehearsals will be after school typically from 4-6pm and a calendar will be available soon! It’s going to be a fun and energetic show, our show dates are: Friday, April 24th 7pm Saturday, April 25th, 3pm and 7pm Sunday, April 26th 3pm Audition requirements: ACTING: (6th-10th Grade) ● Prepare 1 minute of song any song, one that shows us what you can do! (We also accept the happy birthday song) ● Monologues are optional, up to 1 minute long. ● If you’re auditioning for a character that plays an instrument (Dewey, Zach, Katie, Lawrence, and Freddy) Mr. Gregory will give you parts to learn for the audition. ● You must select either Wednesday 1/8/20 or Thursday 1/9/20 from 4-6pm to audition for a part. Friday 1/10/20 is a mandatory dance audition, you don’t need to prepare anything, just be ready to dance and bring comfortable clothes! Callbacks are during and after dance auditions. ● Get the spring musical audition slip from Mr. T or the office and get them return them signed asap! PIT: (8th-10th Grade Only) We will have a live pit band during the show, musicians interested in performing need to see Mr. Gregory for an audition packet. Pit audition dates: Monday 1/6/20 or Tuesday 1/7/20 Instruments: Guitar Bass Drums Keyboard Tech: (6th-10th Grade) If you’re interested in tech that information will come out soon! We will need: Stage hands, sound, mics, lights, costuming, set construction, painting, and ushering! .

Rather than pursue Tim’s ambitions to write rock or pop songs they turned their attention to Andrew’s obsession—musical theatre. Their first collaboration (lyrics by Tim, music by Andrew) was an unsuccessful show based on the life of Dr. Barnardo, the Victorian philanthropist, The Likes Of Us. The Adults ● Dewey Finn (Plays Guitar and Sings Rock Tenor): The protagonist, Dewey is a struggling rockstar who is kicked out of his band, No Vacancy, at the beginning of the show. In need of money, he impersonates Ned Schneebly and gets a substitute teacher job at the Horace Green School, where he founds the band School of Rock with the students, who are musical prodigies. Dewey is usually wild, desperate, naive, dull-witted, and somewhat more childish than his students. ● Rosalie Mullins (Mezzo Soprano): Rosalie is the principal of Horace Green, and is very uptight and traditional at school. However, she feels an intense amount of pressure from work, which is what causes her to be so high strung. She has a secret love of rock and roll music, and longs to be as carefree as she once was. ● Ned Schneebly (Baratone): Dewey's longtime friend, former bandmate, and current roommate.
