SPONSORS ADDRESS

March 2017
As a long-term league sponsor and life-long cricket follower, it’s my pleasure to welcome in the start of the season and the new-look league structure. Now in our second year of sponsorship, we’re delighted to help drive the community’s momentum, continuing to champion the irrefutable links between business and sport.

Passion, perseverance and resilience are key qualities that we all gain from sport and are attributes that have bolstered UKFast for the past 17 years. I know that these qualities will be needed throughout another fantastic season for the league in 2017.

Our relationship with the Cheshire cricket community has been a pleasure so far and I look forward to watching the game continue to thrive throughout the region. Finally, from myself and all at UKFast, I’d like to wish the players, family and friends the best of luck for the season: let’s hope the weather holds out.

Best of British, Lawrence Jones MBE

CHAIRMAN’S FOREWORD

‘e only thing that is constant is change’ is a quote attributed to the ancient Ephesian philosopher Heraclitus. I’m sure he didn’t have 21st Century Cheshire Cricket in mind when he was thinking his profound thoughts, but the theme applies perfectly. Following the 2016 season which saw two Divisions-worth of 3rd & 4th XIs from the County League joining the CCL, the CCL & Alliance proposed to merge for the 2017 season and the merger was formally agreed by the Clubs of both Leagues. One of the reasons for the merger proposal was the fact that Team numbers, particularly at the lower end of the playing-standards spectrum, were reducing and sadly two Clubs have decided to fold since the end of 2016. Several other Clubs have reduced to single-team, at least for the time being, but on a brighter note we have two new Clubs joining in Europa Exiles & Burton, while Malpas make a welcome return with a single team and Timperley add a 4th XI. Clubs who are in difficulty, particularly with regard to playing numbers, are urged to contact the League, Cheshire Cricket & their local Forum as soon as possible. We will all do whatever we can to help. Please do not leave it until it is too late & dire consequences become inevitable. e ‘Cheshire Cricket League’ name has been retained, providing continuity back to the League’s formation in 1974, and the new League now has approximately 78 Clubs & 136 Teams playing in 11 Divisions, with UKFast continuing their valued sponsorship. With such a large structure, you will appreciate that it is essential to the smooth running of the League that Clubs fulfil their Admin duties correctly & promptly. With this in mind, the League will continue to look at ways to ease Clubs’ Administrative load as much as possible, in particular the use of electronic form-filling for a variety of tasks. Inevitably, there will be a period of settling in, and the League invite Clubs suggestions if they find areas which need tweaking or need clarification. It would be remiss of me not to congratulate all those teams who achieved Promotion & KO winners in both Leagues in 2016. In particular, we bid farewell to Bredbury St Marks & Romiley 1st XIs, Bredbury returning to the County League at the first time of asking and Romiley reaching new heights. Plus Stockport Georgians & Heaton Mersey 2nd XIs, two very strong sides who were the class of Division A. We wish them well in the County League. So, welcome to the new League to all Clubs & Teams, we hope you have an enjoyable & successful 2017. Hopefully another Heraclitus quote will also prove true ‘e unlike is joined together and from differences results the most beautiful harmony’.

Graham Coull March 2017

Let us hope that the new vaccines which are now available will help to prevent the spread of the virus and soon enable a return to some kind of normality again. Let us also hope that the church will be allowed to remain open for Mass. It’s wonderful to be able to welcome parishioners to Mass regularly as well as to have many others join on the live stream. I know that many people have found comfort in their faith during the past difficult months and being able to come to Mass has been a big factor in this. Bredbury – South Manchester Underground Cable

Bredbury – South Manchester underground cable Frequently Asked Questions – August 2020 Who is National Grid? National Grid Electricity Transmission plc owns and maintains the electricity transmission network in England and Wales. Electricity is carried from power stations through a network of high voltage overhead lines and underground cables owned and operated by National Grid. At substations the voltage is stepped down and local electricity distribution companies like Electricity North West take over and supply it to homes, schools, offices, factories and other premises. What work are you doing? We need to replace the existing underground electricity cable which connects the pylons at the Trans Pennine Trail, behind Powerleague, and at Penny Lane, off Lancashire Hill. Why are you doing this work? The existing cable is nearly 60 years old. We’ve maintained and repaired it for as long as possible, but this is no longer efficient. To keep the network in first-class working order and help meet future electricity demands, we must now replace it. The work represents a substantial investment in the region’s power network and will help keep everyone supplied with power at the flick of a switch. Have residents been informed of the work? We’ve written to residents across the area on a number of occasions. In 2019 we let them know about our survey work. We started to install the ducting for the replacement cable in November 2019, which we’ve now completed. We’re writing to residents to let them know about what we’re doing next in their immediate area as we start work to pull the cable through the ducts.

The counter- proposal allocates seven whole constituencies to the boroughs of Stockport, Tameside and Oldham, nine whole constituencies to the boroughs of Man- chester, Salford and Trafford, and twenty-four whole constituencies to the rest of the region. Greater Manchester Green Belt: Additional Assessment of Sites Outside of the Green Belt

Greater Manchester Green Belt: Additional Assessment of Sites Outside of the Green Belt Study Background In 2016, LUC was commissioned on behalf of the ten Greater Manchester Authorities by Manchester City Council to undertake an assessment of the Green Belt within Greater Manchester. The study provided an objective, evidence-based and independent assessment of how Manchester’s Green Belt contributes to the five purposes of Green Belt, as set out in paragraph 80 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (see Box 1 below). The original assessment also examined the performance of 58 potential additional areas of land that currently lie outside the Green Belt. Box 1: The purposes of Green Belt 1. To check the unrestricted sprawl of large built-up areas. 2. To prevent neighbouring towns merging into one another. 3. To assist in safeguarding the countryside from encroachment. 4. To preserve the setting and special character of historic towns. 5. To assist in urban regeneration, by encouraging the recycling of derelict and other urban land. In 2018, LUC were commissioned to undertake an assessment of 32 additional areas of land that do not lie within the Manchester Green Belt, to assess how they perform against the NPPF Green Belt purposes. The additional areas were identified by the authorities of Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport and Wigan. The assessment was undertaken using the same assessment methodology used for the 2016 study which is detailed in Chapter 3 of the Greater Manchester Green Belt Assessment (July 2016). This methodology is not repeated here but as per the original study it involved both a desked based assessment and field visits to all of the areas of land.

    Annual Report

ANNUAL REPORT SEASON 2007-2008 PRESENTATION NIGHT 7.30pm Friday 4th April 2008 at Pennant Hills Bowling Club Normanhurst-Warrawee Cricket Club formerly known as Normanhurst Cricket Club Established in 1926 (Foundation Club in HK&HDCA) A DIVISION OF NORMANHURST SPORTS CLUB www.normosports.com PRESIDENT’S REPORT Well. What a season - centuries, hat-tricks, personal bests and some great team results. You always know it’s a fun year when it finishes before you know it or want it to! A big thankyou to the Committee for a fantastic job they have done. John Corish and Sue Haertsch have done a magnificent job organising juniors, ensuring that it ran smoothly and efficiently. Chris Hawkins did a wonderful job in his first year as our equipment officer and I am sure he enjoyed purchasing our new bowling machine! Mr Pietsch has done a stellar job organising our accounts for the last 2 years, however a newborn and knee surgery will see it as his last year in the position. Our club is lucky enough to own a bowling machine. Through governments grants we were able to purchase this so that it can be of benefit to all of our players and coaches. I would like to congratulate all our coaches and managers for the way they have conducted themselves and I am sure that all teams thank them for their energy, time and commitment that they have put in. On a personal note, 2007-2008 will be my last year as President. After two fun years, and seven on the Committee, it is time for me to move on to achieve some personal goals.
  • Hawk Green Seeking to Join League in 2019

Hawk Green Seeking to Join League in 2019

Cheshire County Cricket League APRIL, 2018 NEWSLETTER Hawk Green seeking to join League in 2019 DERBYSHIRE & Cheshire League club Hawk Green have applied to join the Vivio Cheshire County League at the end of the 2018 season. With a fine ground at Rhode Field, Upper Hibbert Lane, situated a couple of miles from Marple, Hawk Green made a formal application to switch leagues via the Cheshire Clubs Cricket Committee. The development was subsequently discussed between the officers of the County and Cheshire Leagues and, considering the strength of the club and its impressive facilities, it was agreed to advocate that Hawk Green be admitted to the County League for the 2019 season, to play in Division Two. If a proposal that they should be admitted, to be made by Didsbury and seconded by Tattenhall, is ratified at the League management meeting at Warrington on Wednesday, April 11, only the bottom club in Division 2 will be relegated from the County League and only the champion club promoted from the UK Fast League at the end of the 2018 campaign. Hawk Green 2nd XI would then also be promoted to play in the County League’s Second Division. Reporting to the League’s March Cricket Committee, chairman David Humpage said: “Hawk Green are the current Derbyshire and Cheshire League champions and have good playing strength throughout the club, and they possess a ground which easily passes muster. While some people in the UK Fast League felt Hawk Green should start at the bottom of the pyramid and work their way up, it was the general consensus that Hawk Green were of sufficient calibre to merit a place in the County League in 12 months’ time”.
