Event supporting sponsor Energy Queensland

Ergon Energy and Energex are part of Energy Queensland, Australia’s largest electricity distribution company connecting electricity supply to 2.3 million customers across Queensland.

The business is 100% owned by Queensland and was formed in 2016 through the merger of Ergon Energy and Energex.

Energy Queensland is driven by its vision to energise Queensland communities not just through its 207,178km of electricity network, but also through its commitment to deliver better outcomes for customers, employees and Queenslanders.

Energy Queensland energises Queensland communities from the Tweed River to Torres Strait and from Brisbane across to Birdsville.

The geographic challenges presented by such a large network with broad variances in environment and climate, customer density and load have driven innovation across our companies.

Every day our employees work hard to connect customers with access to power, and repair and maintain our network as quickly as possible.

We’re all about safely delivering secure, affordable and sustainable energy solutions with our communities and customers. And we’re a major contributor During moderated discussion CEDA to the development of skills and to other partnerships within the communities will take online questions. keynote speaker

The Hon. Cameron Dick MP Treasurer of Queensland, Minister for Investment Twitter: @camerondickqld

Cameron Dick is the Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Investment, and has represented the state electorate of Woodridge in the Queensland Parliament since 2015.

As Treasurer and a member of the Palaszczuk Government’s leadership team, Cameron is responsible for driving economic growth and job creation across the state.

He is leading Queensland’s economic recovery during the COVID-19 crisis, overseeing delivery of the government’s $8 billion employment and industry plan, Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs.

This includes supporting small business with a range of cost-saving and staff- retention initiatives, easing cost-of-living pressures on Queensland households, and helping first-homeowners build or buy in the regions.

As part of the Unite and Recover plan, Cameron secured a record $51.8 billion infrastructure pipeline guarantee over four years, creating certainty for the building and construction industry and giving workers confidence they’ll have consistent, secure jobs for years to come.

He’s also committed to growing Queensland’s emerging industries like renewables, hydrogen, defence and METS (mining equipment, technology and services), while continuing to support the state’s traditional industry strengths such as tourism, resources and manufacturing.

Cameron has previously served Queensland as the state’s Attorney-General, Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Minister for State Development, Minister for Manufacturing, Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Minister for Education, and Minister for Industrial Relations.

He is proud to live with his wife and two teenage boys in the City of Logan, where he enjoys supporting local community and sporting groups, particularly the area’s rugby league and cricket clubs.

about CEDA

CEDA – the Committee for Economic Development of Australia – is an independent, membership-based think tank. We deliver on our purpose by: •Undertaking research to understand the most important issues Australia faces. •Creating platforms to inform, stimulate ideas and promote debate of critical issues. •Facilitating collaboration to inspire innovative and progressive policy solutions. •Influencing decision makers by delivering compelling evidence and recommendations and advocating in support of our positions.

Membership CEDA has almost 700 members including leading Australian businesses, community organisations, government departments and academic institutions. Our cross-sector membership spans every state and territory. Organisations join CEDA because CEDA delivers exposure to high level thought leadership, timely briefings on issues of economic importance, access to networking and brand reach through sponsorship and hosting opportunities. In addition to high profile public events, CEDA also delivers regular member only events for employees of member organisations and exclusive Trustee only boardroom briefings for senior executives from member organisations. These provide a unique opportunity for peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and for speakers and attendees to talk candidly on issues.

Research and policy Our purpose is to identify policy issues that matter for Australia’s future and pursue solutions that deliver better economic and social outcomes for the greater good.
