When I was in college a Seventh-day Adventist friend told me about the importance of keeping God's Sabbath on the seventh day. Coming from a Catholic background, I believed Sunday was the sev- enth day. However, following my graduation, I felt the need to know more about Jesus and the Sabbath, so I went to the library, and there I found the information I was looking for. I discovered the ori- gin of Sunday worship via religious encyclopedias. This left no doubt in my mind that Saturday was the seventh day of the week. This discovery, as well as other pertinent information, convinced me that I needed to keep God's commandments and live a God- directed life. I looked in the telephone directory to find the Sabbath- keeping church closest to my home. After attending the "Beyond 2000" telecast series in October, I asked the pastor, Michael Meyers, about preparing for baptism. My baptism on December 6 was a wonderful day. My family came to support me. In the Adventist faith I learned that baptism is an outward sign of a great bond be tween Jesus and His earthly brothers. I feel so happy with that experi- ence. My advice to others seeking peace and spiritual growth is that when Jesus knocks on the door of your heart, let Him in and get to know Him. Brent Chrishon

The Character Will... Finalwords that live on Some people spend their last few years trying to decide to whom they will leave their house, car, bank account and antique trunk. But is this really what's important? What could be more valuable than a letter, a "character will," to each child, grandchild, and others close to you, telling about yourself, who you really were and how you viewed life. You could share your motives, regrets and personal feelings about TRUST SERVICES each of them. And you could share your wishes for their future. Although your "character will" has no legal authority, it can be the most powerful legacy you leave for those you love. Before they died, several great Bible personalities prepared advice and admonition for their children. Jacob, Moses, David and others left "character wills" to be read by their children and future generations in which they shared information about themselves and why they served God. You may wish to share your final letter with children and relatives before death. It is not a part of your will, but it will become a part of your history. Children rarely know who their parents are beyond the physical and material gains they have made in life. Following are thoughts you might want to elaborate on as you prepare your "character will": * I do love you, and I'm grateful to you because . . . * I believe true success is . . . * Important lessons I have learned . . . * Mistakes I made and hope you will never make . . . * I believe in Jesus and heaven because . . . The list is endless and should be customized by each individual. The true value of a person's life lies not in the wealth they may have accumulated, but in the character they have developed on this earth. One daughter who read her father's "character will" after his death made this remark "This is the first time I have ever understood and appreciated the love my father had for me." Your local trust department cannot write your "character will," but they can help you with your legal will. Contact them today, and a trust representative will be happy to assist you. Harvey J. Byram Trust Services Director

You introduced me to the true light... your programs shook me and stirred my soul... God's Word kept growing within me.. my joy became complete when I buried my old life in the water of baptism... now I speak about your radio messages that introduced me to the Savior... I lost support of some friends and relatives, but I gained Christ! 11
