It’s a joyful experience to see our youth run from activity to ac- tivity and return to get in line for their second, third, and sometimes even fourth turns! This year we extended the oppor- tunity to our members’ parents and honestly we could not tell who was more excited, the kids or their par- ents! At A Place Called Home, we’re fortunate to have an incredible network of parents and families who volunteer at our events and support our efforts year-round. “ When APCH told me that they were starting an entrepreneurial program, I couldn’t wait to hire them. I gave very little direction other than yellow, happy flowers. On Friday, May 5, 2017 we held our annual GirlPower Awards Luncheon at the Skirball GRAND OPENING OF THE BRIDGE Cultural Center to honor the women who inspire us all. The event, hosted by Liz Hernandez of , truly lived up to its name and was brimming with GirlPower. We honored four amazing women this year: Kiesha Nix, Executive Director of the LA Lakers Youth Foundation, was presented with the Community Leadership Award; Rita Tuzon, EVP and General Counsel at Fox Networks Group was honored with the Integrity in Leadership Award; Cecilia Peck, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, director and producer, was honored with the Courage in Storytelling Award; and Netflix Originals Marketing Manager, Jennifer Weg and the Women of Soap Box, were honored with the Women Leading the Way Award.
