Ridings in the Province end to give the necessary directions

for establishing the Voter's List in the new Ridings. The descriptions of the new Ridings are set

out in the Schedule.

An Act to amend the "Constitution Act." R.S B.C. 1936. 4. 49 : 1937. r. 11. IS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the H Legislative Assembly of the Province of , enacts as follows:—

1. This Act may be cited as the " Constitution Act Amend- Short title meet Act, 1938."

2. Schedule C to the " Constitution Act," being chapter 49 of It...enact* &h. C . the " Revised Statutes of British Columbia, 1936," is repealed, and Schedule C as contained in the Schedule to this Act is sub- stituted therefor.

3. (1.) For the purpose of the revision of voters' lists under R„hd. the " Provincial Elections Act " subsequent to the dissolution of "'".16" the present Legislative Assembly, Registrars of Voters shall be appointed, and lists of voters shall be revised for the electoral districts as named and described in the Schedule to this Act (in this section referred to as " new electoral districts," as dis- tinguished from the existing electoral districts, which are in this section referred to as " old electoral districts "). (2.) For the purpose of preparing the first revised list of voters for a new electoral district the boundaries of which differ from the boundaries of an old electoral district of the same name, the Registrar of Voters of the district shall strike from the last revised list of voters of the old electoral district the names of all voters who reside without the boundaries of the new electoral district ; and the list with those names so struck off shall be deemed, for all purposes of the revision, the last revised list of voters for that new electoral district. The Reg- istrar of Voters shall prepare from the names of voters so struck off a list of the names of those voters who reside in any new electoral district, and shall forthwith transmit the list to the Registrar of Voters for the new electoral district, together with the original affidavits made by the voters whose names appear on the list so transmitted. (3.) Every list of names transmitted under subsection (2) to the Registrar of Voters for a new electoral district shall be deemed, for all purposes of the revision, a part of the last revised list of voters for that district, and the Registrar of Voters to whom it is transmitted shall post up a copy of the list in his office and a copy in a conspicuous place on the outside of the door of his office. (4.) For the purpose of preparing the first revised list of voters for a new electoral district as to which there is no old electoral district of the same name, the Registrar of Voters shall place on a list the names of the voters appearing on the several lists transmitted to him pursuant to subsection (2) ; and the list so prepared by him shall be deemed, for all purposes of the revision, the last revised list of voters for that new electoral district. (5.) For the purpose of preparing the first revised list of voters for a new electoral district the boundaries of which cor- respond with the boundaries of an old electoral district of the same name, the last revised list of voters for the old electoral district shall be deemed, for all purposes of the revision, the last revised list of voters for that new electoral district. (6.) The lists of voters as last revised in conformity with this section shall be the lists of voters to be used at all elections held after the dissolution of the present Legislative Assembly until new lists are revised and certified under the " Provincial Elections Act." (7.) This section shall for all purposes be construed as one with the " Provincial Elections Act."

Commencement. 4. Section 2 shall come into operation on the dissolution of the present Legislative Assembly.

SCHEDULE C. (Section 15.)

(The Mining Divisions herein mentioned, unless specifically stated to the contrary, are as described in the Gazette of October 19th, 1939.)

ALBERNI ELECTORAL DISTRICT.

(1.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— Clayoquot Mining Division, except that part which drains into Johnstone Strait and the Strait of Georgia; together with Alberni Mining Division, as defined in the Gazette of May 9th, 1937, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Alberni Electoral District," and return one member. 3

ATI.IN ELECTORAL DISTRICT.

(2.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:- Atlin Mining Division; Stikine Mining Division, except that part which lies to the east of the one hundred and twenty-eighth meridian of west longitude; together with Portland Canal Mining Division, as defined in the Gazette of April 22nd, 19:17, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Atlin Electoral District," and return one member.

BURNABY ELECTORAL DISTRICT. (3.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:- Commencing at the point of intersection of the north-westerly boundary of the City Municipality of New Westminster with the centre line of North Road; thence south-westerly along said boundary to the most northerly corner of Lot 172, Group 1, New Westminster Land District; thence west- erly and northerly along the boundaries of the District Municipality of Burnaby to the north-west corner thereof; thence due north to the middle line of Burrard Inlet; thence easterly along said middle line to the point of intersection of the northerly production of the centre line of North Road; thence southerly to and along said centre line to the point of commencement, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Burnaby Elec- toral District," and return one member.

CARIBOO ELECTORAL DISTRICT.

(4.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:- Quesnel Mining Division; that portion of Cariboo Mining Division which lies to the south of the following described line: Commencing at that point on the one hundred and twenty-fourth meridian of west longitude as estab- lished by survey, which lies due west of the south-west corner of Lot 1263, Cariboo Land District; thence east to said corner; thence easterly along the southerly boundaries of Lots 1263, 1262, 1257, 1256, 1057, 1056, 1051, 1050, 1045, 1044, 1043, 5226, and 6225 to the north-west corner of Lot 5218; thence southerly along the westerly boundary of Lot 6218 to the south-west corner thereof; thence easterly along the southerly boundaries of Lots 5218, 5217, 5216, 5210, 5209, and 5201 to the south-east corner of Lot 5201; thence northerly along the easterly boundaries of Lots 5201 and 974 to the north- east corner of Lot 974; thence easterly along the northerly boundaries of Lots 976, 976, 977, 994, 995, 996, 998, 997, and the southerly boundary of Lot 1003 to the south-east corner of Lot 1003; thence due south to the point due west of the north-west corner of Lot 9066; thence east to said corner; thence easterly along the northerly boundary of Lot 9066 to the north-east corner thereof; thence due east to the easterly bank of the Fraser River; CHILLIWACK ELECTORAL DISTRICT.

(5.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— That part of New Westminster Mining Division which lies to the east and south of the following described line: Commencing at the south-east corner of the Township Municipality of Langley; thence northerly along the easterly boundary of said municipality and the production northerly thereof to the middle line of the main channel of Fraser River; thence easterly along said middle line (north of Crescent Island and south of Matsqui and Yaalstrick Islands) to the southerly boundary of Township 5, Range 27, west of the sixth meridian; thence easterly along said boundary to the south-east corner of said township, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as "Chilliwack Electoral District," and return one member. COLUMBIA ELECTORAL DISTRICT.

(6.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— Golden and Windermere Mining Divisions, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as "Columbia Electoral District," and return one member, COMOX ELECTORAL DISTRICT.

(7.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— Quataino Mining Division; that part of ('layoquot Mining Division which drains into Johnstone Strait and the Strait of Georgia; together with that part of Nanaimo Mining Division, an defined in the Gazette of May 6th, 1937, which lies to the north of the following described line: Commencing at that point on the westerly boundary of the watershed of Cameron River which lies due west of the north-west corner of Dunsmuir Land District; thence east to said corner; thence easterly along the northerly boundary of Dunsmuir Land District and the southerly boundary of Wellington Land District to the south-east corner thereof ; thence easterly passing midway between Jesse and Newcastle Islands to and along the middle line of Fair- way Channel and the production thereof to the middle line of the Strait of Georgia, save and excepting Texada, Lasqueti, and adjacent Islands, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Comox Electoral District," and return one member.

COWICIIAN-NEWCASTLE ELECTORAL. DISTRICT.

(8.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— That part of Nanaimo Mining Division, as defined in the Gazette of May 6th, 1937, which lies to the south and west of the following described line: Commencing at that point on the westerly boundary of the watershed of Cameron River which lies due west of the north-west corner of Dunsmuir Land District; thence east to said corner; thence easterly along the north- erly boundary of Dunsmuir Land District to the north-east corner thereof; thence southerly and easterly along the boundaries of Mountain Land Dis- trict to the south-east corner thereof; thence continuing easterly along the northerly boundary of Cranberry Land District to the north-east corner 6

of Section 20, Range 4, thereof; thence easterly in a straight line to the north-west corner of Section 20, Range 8, and continuing easterly along the northerly boundary of said Cranberry District to the north-east corner thereof; thence northerly along the westerly boundary of Cedar Land Dis- trict to the north-west corner thereof; thence due north to the middle line of Northumberland Channel; thence southerly along said middle line and the middle lines of Dodd Narrows and Stuart Channel to the point due east of the north-east corner of Section 20, Range 4, Chemainus Land District, together with that part of Victoria Mining Division lying between the north boundary thereof and the following described lines: Commencing at the point on the middle line of Stuart Channel due east of the north-east corner of Section 20, Range 4, Chemainus Land District; thence southerly along said middle line and the middle lines of Sanaum Narrows and Satellite Channel to the point thereon which lies due east of the north-east corner of Shawnigan Land District; thence west to said corner; thence westerly along the northerly boundary of Shawnigan Land District and the south- erly boundaries of Quamichan and Sahtlam Land Districts to the south- west corner of Sahtlam Land District; thence due west to the westerly boundary of the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway Company's Land Grant; thence north-westerly along said boundary to the northerly boundary of the watershed of Nitinat River, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Cowichan-Newcastle Electoral District," and return one member. CRANBROOK ELECTORAL DISTRICT. (9.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— That part of Fort Steele Mining Division which lies to the west of the easterly bank of Kootenay River, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as "Cranbrook Electoral District," and return one member. DELTA ELECTORAL DISTRICT. (10.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— Commencing at the south-east corner of the Township Municipality of Langley; thence northerly along the easterly boundary of said municipality and the northerly production thereof to the middle line of the main channel of Fraser River; thence westerly along said middle line (north of McMillan and Barnston Islands and south of Douglas Island) to, and northerly along, the middle line of the channel between Don and Annacis Islands to the middle line of Annacis Channel; thence north-easterly along said middle line north-west of Patrick Island to the southerly prolongation of the westerly boundary of the City Municipality of New Westminster; thence northerly to and along said boundary to the southerly boundary of the District Municipality of Burnaby; thence westerly along the southerly boundary of said municipality and that of the City of Vancouver to the south-west corner of the City of Vancouver; thence due west to the middle line of the Strait of Georgia; thence southerly along said middle line to the International Boundary; thence easterly along said boundary to the point of commencement, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Delta Electoral District," and return one member. DEWDNEY ELECTORAL DISTRICT. (11.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— That part of New Westminster Mining Division which lies to the north of the following described line: Commencing at the point of junction of the 7 north-westerly boundary of the City Municipality of New Westminster with the centre line of North Road; thence easterly and southerly along the north-easterly boundary of said city and the production southerly thereof to the middle line of the main channel of Fraser River; thence easterly and north-easterly along said middle line (south of Douglas, Mataqui, and Yaalstrick Islands and north of Barnston, McMillan, and Crescent Islands) to the southerly boundary of Township 5, Range 27, west of the sixth meridian; thence easterly along said boundary to the south-east corner of said township; together with that part of Yale Mining Division which is enclosed by the westerly boundary thereof and the following described line: Commencing at the south-west corner of Township 5, Range 26, west of the sixth meridian; thence easterly along the southerly boundary of said township to the middle line of Silver Creek; thence northerly along said middle line and the production thereof to the middle line of the main channel of Fraser River; thence westerly along said middle line (north of Bristol Island) to the westerly boundary of said township, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Dewdney Electoral District," and return one member.

ESQUIMALT ELECTORAL DISTRICT. (12.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— That part of Victoria Mining Division which lies to the south and west of the following described line: Commencing at the point of intersection of the westerly boundary of the Esquimult and Nanaimo Railway Company's Land Grant with the middle line of the Nitinat River; thence south-easterly along said boundary to the point thereon which lies due west of the south- west corner of Sahtlam Land District; thence east to said corner; thence easterly along the southerly boundaries of Sahtlam and Quamichan Land Districts and the northerly boundary of Shawnigan Land District to the north-east corner thereof; thence east to the middle line of Satellite Chan- nel; thence southerly along said middle line and the middle lines of Saanich Inlet, Tod Inlet, and Tod Creek to the westerly boundary of the District Municipality of Saanich; thence southerly along said boundary to the middle line of Craigflower (Deadman) River; thence southerly along said middle line and the middle lines of Portage Inlet and Victoria Arm to the westerly boundary of the City Municipality of Victoria; thence southerly along said boundary to the most south-westerly point thereon; thence due south to the International Boundary, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Esquimalt Electoral District," and return one member.

FERNIE ELECTORAL DISTRICT. (13.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— That part of Fort Steele Mining Division which lies to the east of the easterly bank of Kootenay River, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Fernie Electoral District," and returr one member.

FORT GEORGE ELECTORAL DISTRICT. (14.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— That part of Cariboo Mining Division which lies to the east and north of the following described line: Commencing at that point on the southerly boundary of the watershed of Nation River which lies due north of the north-west corner of Lot 4174, Cariboo Land District; thence south to said corner; thence southerly along the westerly boundaries of Lots 4174, 4172, 8

GRAND FORKS-GREENWOOD ELECTORAL DISTRICT. (15.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:- Grand Forks and Greenwood Mining Divisions; together with that part of Osoyoos Mining Division which lies to the east and south of the following 9

described line: Commencing at that point on the International Boundary which lies due south of the south-east corner of Lot 157, Similkameen (formerly Osoyoos) Division of Yale Land District; thence north to said corner; thence northerly along the easterly boundaries of Lot 167 and of Lot 223 of said land district to the north-east corner of Lot 223; thence westerly along the northerly boundary of Lot 223 to the south-east corner of Indian Reserve No. 1 " Osoyoos"; thence due north to the southerly boundary of the watershed of Mika Creek; thence easterly along said boundary and that of Inkaneep Creek to the westerly boundary of the water- shed of Kettle River, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Grand Forks-Greenwood Electoral District," and return one member.

KAMLOOPS ELECTORAL DISTRICT.

(16.) All that portion of the Province of British Columbia which is con- tained within the following boundaries:— Nicola Mining Division; that part of Similkameen Mining Division which lies to the west and north of the following described line: Commencing at 24 the point of intersection of the westerly boundary of the watershed of Alli- son Creek with the surveyed boundary of Kamloops Division of Yale Land District; thence southerly along the westerly boundary of the watershed of Allison Creek to the northerly boundary of the watershed of Asp (China) Creek; thence westerly and southerly along the boundaries of the water- shed of Asp Creek to the northerly boundary of Lot 1028, Yale Division of Yale Land District; thence westerly along said boundary to the north- west corner of Lot 1028; thence southerly along the westerly boundaries of Lots 1028, 515, 514, and 712 to the south-west corner of Lot 712; thence due south to the northerly boundary of Lot 88; thence westerly along said boundary to the north-west corner of Lot 88—all the lots hereinbefore mentioned being in Yale Division of Yale Land District; thence due west to the westerly boundary of the watershed of Similkameen River; that part of Ashcroft Mining Division which lies to the south and east of the following described line: Commencing at the point of junction of the south- erly boundary of the watershed of Inkikuh Creek with the westerly boundary of the watershed of Guichon (Mamit) Creek; thence westerly along the southerly boundary of the watershed of Inkikuh Creek to the northerly boundary of Township 17, Range 24, west of the sixth meridian; thence westerly along said boundary to the middle line of the Thompson River; thence southerly along said middle line and that of Fraser River to the northerly boundary of Township 14, Range 27, west of the sixth meridian; thence due west to the easterly boundary of the watershed of Lillooet River ; Yale Mining Division, save and excepting that part which is enclosed by the westerly boundary thereof and the following described line: Com- mencing at the south-west corner of Township 5, Range 26, west of the sixth meridian; thence easterly along the southerly boundary of said town- ship to the middle line of Silver Creek; thence northerly along said middle line and the production thereof to the middle line of the main channel of Fraser River; thence westerly along said middle line (north of Bristol Island) to the westerly boundary of said township, shall constitute one electoral district, to be designated as " Yale Electoral District," and return one member.
