Rating Rationale Sahakarmaharshi Bhausaheb Thorat
Sahakarmaharshi Bhausaheb Thorat Sahakari Rating Sakhar Karkhana Limited (SBT) Rationale June 02, 2014 Proposed Facility Amount (Rs. Crore) Rating Term Loan 131.29 SMERA BB-/Stable (Assigned) SMERA has assigned a rating of ‘SMERA BB-’ (read as SMERA double B minus) to the Rs.131.29 crore proposed bank facility of Sahakarmaharshi Bhausaheb Thorat Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Limited (SBT). The outlook is ‘ Stable’ . The rating is supported by the society’s long track record of operations and comfortable profit margins. The rating is also supported by the proximity of the society’s manufacturing unit to raw material sourcing areas. The rating factors in the potential benefits the society is likely to derive from the co-generation power plant. However, the rating is constrained by the society’s moderate operating scale, working capital-intensive operations and high gearing (debt-to-equity ratio). The rating is also constrained by the society’s presence in a highly regulated sugar industry. The rating factors in risks associated with the proposed modernization and expansion of the society’s existing sugarcane crushing capacity. SBT, established in 1966, is a Maharashtra-based co-operative society engaged in manufacturing of sugar. SBT’s operations have been profitable during the last seven years despite the inherent cyclicality in the sugar industry. The society reported comfortable net profit margin of 5.75 per cent in FY2012–13 (refers to financial year April 01 to March 31). Further, SBT has access to ample supply of raw material as the society’s factory unit is in proximity to sugarcane growing regions (Ahmednagar and Nasik) in Maharashtra. -

PRAJA strives to create awareness about the elected representatives and their constituencies. It aims to encourage the citizen to raise his/ her voice and influence the policy and working of the elected representative. Press Release White Pearls Hotels and Investments Private Limited
Press Release White Pearls Hotels and Investments Private Limited April 03, 2018 Rating Facilities Amount (Rs. crore) Rating1 Rating Action CARE B+; Stable Long term Bank Facilities 15.00 Reaffirmed (Single B Plus; Outlook: Stable) 15.00 Total Facilities (Rupees Fifteen crore only) Details of instruments/facilities in Annexure I Detailed Rationale & Key Rating Drivers The rating assigned to the bank facilities of White Pearls Hotels and Investments Private Limited (WHIPL) continues to be constrained by its modest scale of operations, leveraged capital structure and weak debt protection metrics. The rating further continues to be constrained by investment in loss-making subsidiaries and its presence in the highly competitive and fragmented industry with demand linkage from the cyclical real estate sector. The rating continues to derive strength from experience and resourcefulness of the promoters in hospitality and real estate leasing business, WHIPL’s long track record and location advantage of its hotel and real estate properties and healthy profit margins. Going forward, the company’s ability to timely receive the lease rentals and maintain occupancy in both hospitality and lease rental business amidst increasing competition along with any further investment in the loss making subsidiaries are the key rating sensitivities. Detailed description of the key rating drivers Key Rating Weaknesses Modest scale of operations: The scale of operations WHIPL stood modest as indicated by its total operating income of Rs.12.58 crore and gross cash accruals of Rs.3.07 crore. Further the net-worth also stood at Rs.17.13 crore as on March 31, 2017. This thereby has limited financial flexibility of the company. -

A Constructive Critique of India's Fast-Track Courts
Peterson: Speeding up Sexual Assault Trials: A Constructive Critique of Ind Article Speeding Up Sexual Assault Trials: A Constructive Critique of India's Fast-Track Courts Vandana Petersont India has a strong tradition of judicial activism for social change and comprehensive laws designed to combat sexual violence against women. Yet such crime has significantly escalated. In December 2012, a widely publicized assault occurred in Delhi. The victim's death triggered a frantic response from many quarters including legal scholars, religious leaders, global media, and government officials. The central government undertook a comprehensive review of existing mechanisms to deter future crimes against women. Its findings led to the creation or designation of "fast- track" courts to adjudicatecases involving sexual crime against women. This Article posits that designating "special" courts to hear cases of sexual crime can significantly deter such crime, and implicitly address the social norms which typically motivate such crime. However, the fast-track courts that have been established by the central and state governments of India, with minimal logistical or legislative backing, fall short of making any lasting or normative progress. To that end, this Article suggests best practices from specialized courts in other jurisdictions including specialized domestic violence courts in the United States. Parts I and II describe the contemporary challenges faced by Indian society in the area of sexual violence against women. Parts III and IV describe the history and evolution of fast-track courts and identify areas for improvement. Part V suggests incorporating elements borrowed from t The author is a graduate of Smith College and the University of Michigan Law School. -

Ansari is charged with conducting surveys and drawing maps to assist the Lashkar-e-Toiba attackers. According to the Kurla police, the assailants ran into Azmi’s office in Taximen’s Colony, Kurla (West), around 7.45 pm. They fired four rounds, of which three hit the 33-year-old lawyer in the head and chest. Azmi was with a clerk, who hid himself and escaped unhurt. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Deven Bharti said, “We are probing all possible angles. It is true that he had received threats some years back from the Ravi Pujari gang.” He had approached police regarding threats to his life in 2006. He did not have any security although K P Pawar, the lawyer of Lashkar attacker Ajmal Kasab, has Z-category security. Azmi’s first big case was the 7/11 serial explosions aboard local trains in Mumbai in 2006 in which he was defending three accused, including one of the prime accused, Faisal Sheikh, the LeT’s alleged Mumbai chief. He was also the petitioner challenging application of MCOCA in the 7/11 serial blasts case in the Supreme Court. -

Urdu, for completely spurious reasons, was declared the national language of Pakistan. Hindi was wrongly but aggressively foisted as the main language of a Unitarian Indian state. The conception of Urdu as a linguistic attribute of South Asian Muslims — the reason for its embrace by Pakistan — would be laughable had it not led to a tragic denouement for the country. The creation of Bangladesh questioned the axiom. Several linguistic groups within Pakistan and many more Muslim clusters in India mock the primacy accorded to Urdu because of a communally enforced error. Likewise, none except a section of the mostly upper caste elite in India speaks Hindi. They condescend to assert that Maithili, Bhojpuri, Awadhi, Brajbhasha, etc are dialects of Hindi. bbèZ]: ` XbÞ] <ःÝ[ Pßb QÝ]ÝèUÝ PÝ RÝÝ Page 2 of 4 The fact is that a speaker of one can’t understand the other.
