İngilizcede evlenmek için to tie the not/ düğüm atmak deyimi kullanılırken bu deyimin Türkçe karşılığı tügünü kıymak/ düğümü kesmek’tir.

Flora, vegetation and habitat diversity of the wetlands were surveyed during growing seasons of 2014 and 2015. A total of 159 plant taxa belonging to 123 genera and 42 families were determined in the studied wetlands. Asteraceae, Amaranthaceae (including Chenopodiaceae) and Poaceae were the most species rich families and Suaeda, Salsola, Atriplex, Plantago and Tamarix were the most species rich genera. A floristic analysis indicated that therophytes and pluriregional elements predominated life form and chorological spectra, respectively. Studied sites were physiognomically classified into aquatic, emergent, and dry upland habitats which represent 6, 68 and 26 percent of all plant taxa, respectively. Halophytic species constitute a large part of flora, among them Puccinellia poecilantha recently recorded in the area is considered as a rare plant.

Abstract Today, radicalism ethnocentrism has become a primary source of violent armed conflicts inside the country and in some parts of the world and has entailed an attrition of nation-state's power. On the other hand, ethnic nationalism in some countries has targeted national integrity and the very foundation of the society. This paper seeks to respond to the question: What impacts does this ethnic scatteredness and diversity have on the order and security of the Islamic Republic of Iran? What solutions are there for the national integrity? That which is certain is the existence of various ethnic groups in Iran which have rarely caused conflicts and engagements; from the issue of Turkmen Sahra and Azarbayjan in the early Revolution to the strikes by Kurdish people in May 2010 which are all issues that have been effective on the public order and security of Iran.

  • Chapter Three: Perspectives on Ethnicity in Iran
CHAPTER THREE: PERSPECTIVES ON ETHNICITY IN IRAN 1. INTRODUCTION In his celebrated essay “Ethnic Groups and Boundaries”, Barth (1969) criticized a then common view on ethnicity for assuming that ethnic phenomena come about due to contact between groups which are already culturally distinctive, often in a colonial setting. Rather, Barth reasons, we should “ask ourselves what is needed to make ethnic distinctions emerge in an area” (ibid, 17). What he seems to call for here is an historical perspective on ethnicity. During last three decades, a number of scholars in social sciences, political sciences, and history disciplines such as Aghajanian (1983), Kazemi (1988), Ayubi (1998), Ahmadi (1999), Hajiani (2001), Altaiee (2002), Abdollahi and Ghaderzadeh (2004), and Ghamari (2005) have attempted to analyze ethnic diversity in the Iranian society. They have discussed problems such as the existence of ethnic diversity in Iran, the social and political issues of ethnic diversity of Iran, the boundaries of ethnic groups in Iran, and the factors that have developed ethnic diversity in the Iranian society since ancient times. In this chapter, the main perspectives on ethnicity in the Iranian society have been discussed. On the basis of those approaches, the multiethnic nature of Iranian society is explained. In this way, historically, the rise of the plural society in the Province of Golestan with reference to Turkmen group has been presented. 48 2. PLURAL NATURE OF IRAN SOCIETY On the basis of above studies, two perspectives are presented on the multiethnic nature of Iranian society. According to a research in politic discipline on ethnicity, namely ‘Ethnicity and Ethnocentrism in Iran; Legend and Reality’, Ahmadi (1999) argues that Iran is not multiethnic in nature.

  • Preliminary Assessment of Distribution and Population Size of Wintering Little Bustards Tetrax Tetrax in Iran
Bird Conservation International (2012) 22:279–287. © BirdLife International, 2012 doi:10.1017/S0959270911000281 Preliminary assessment of distribution and population size of wintering Little Bustards Tetrax tetrax in Iran MOHAMMAD E. SEHHATISABET, FAZEL ABDI, ABBAS ASHOORI, ABOLGHASEM KHALEGHIZADEH, ALI KHANI, KOROS RABIEI and MAHMOOD SHAKIBA Summary Little Bustard Tetrax tetrax surveys were conducted in Iran in autumn and winter from 2005/ 2006 to 2008/2009. Across northern Iran, Little Bustard presence was confirmed at 15 of the 84 sites visited during the surveys. Three main wintering regions were identified: the Moghan Plain in the north-west of the country, the Turkmen Sahra Plain at the south-east corner of the Caspian Sea and the Sarakhs Plain in the north-east, close to the Afghan border. Up to 10,050 individuals were counted in winter 2009 in the Moghan Plain, which was recognised as the most important area for wintering Little Bustards in Iran. The species was also found in good numbers in Miankaleh, Gomishan, Soufikam, Shour Lake and Sarakhs. Flocks comprising 51 to 500 individuals were the most commonly observed and represented 32% of occurrences. A marked increase in wintering population size was noted in recent years. The main wintering period in Iran extends from November to February. At a national scale, we estimated the Iranian wintering population of Little Bustards at 5,000–10,000 individuals. This preliminary assessment suggests the need for a nationwide survey, emphasising in particular the western, south-western and central parts of the country that were overlooked in our study. It suggests further that Little Bustards in Iran would greatly benefit from national and regional conservation programmes.
