NOTICE.

The High Commissioner has given permission to Lieutenant Colonel G. T. PALEY, O.B.E., D.C.M., E.D., late of Trans-Jordan Frontier Force, to retain the local rank of Lieutenant Colonel on retirement from the Force, and he is permitted, to wear uniforms on special occasions when attending ceremonials and entertainments of a military nature and on other occasions when the wrearing of uniforms would appear appropriate. 7th June, 1947. NOTICE.

British subjects and Palestinian citizens who propose to proceed to a destination on the Continent which requires overland transit, through Austria, are advised to apply for transit permits through Austria to the Officer Commanding, Pass and Permit Office, Headquarters Palestine, The offices are situated at the old Palace Hotel, Mamilla Road, Jerusalem. Foreigners including stateless persons should apply for transit permits through Austria to Dr Karl Seidmann, 36, Yehuda Halevi Street, .Tel Aviv, who is authorised to accept applications for permission to enter Austria, for eventual reference to the Austrian Government for consideration. Travellers are warned that the British Embassy in are unable to obtain transit permits through Austria without a minimum delay of three weeks and it is therefore in the interest of those concerned to obtain the transit, permit prior to departure from Palestine. NOTICE-

1. In the notice published in the Palestine Gazette No. 1567 of 27th March, • 1947, page 324, British subjects residing in Palestine and Palestinian citizens, firms and other bodies constituted or incorporated under the laws of Palestine who have claims to property nationalized in the territories belonging to the Federated People's Republic of Yugoslavia have been invited to register their claims on offi­ cial forms Pal/P/5 in quadruplicate with the Registrar of Enemy Debts (Palestine) not later than 31st August, 1947. That announcement is subject to the following alterations and additions :—

2. Yugoslavia has agreed to consider the claims referred to and the British Delegation expects to commence examination of individual claims in June, 1947. Claims not received in before the end of July, 1947 are unlikely to receive support of the Delegation. Consequently prospective registrants are advised to file their applications immediately. At any rate provisional information containing :—•

(a) an estimate of the claim to be registered,

(b) the claimant's nationality and the exact date of his naturalization if any should be given immediately to the Registrar of Enemy Debts (Palestine), Jeru­ salem.

3. Claims should as far as possible be supported by (a) full documentation as to legal title especially in the case of inheritance,

(b) evidence of the registrant's British nationality or Palestinian citizenship proof of which has to be produced as soon as possible at the office of the Registrar of Enemy Debts (Palestine), Jerusalem, Mamillah Road, Central Police Building or at one of the offices of the Custodian of Enemy Property . (Palestine) at Tel Aviv, 35, Yehuda Halevi Street, and at Haifa, 29, Kings- way, during the hours 9-12 except Saturday and Sunday. Any dual national­ ity has to be stated.

.arrangements for compensation ׳ It is open to claimants to make their own .4 If claimants, nevertheless, elect to make use of the office of His Majesty's Govern­ ment, they do so on the strict understanding that His Majesty's Government may find it necessary to make final settlements against only partial compensation and that it adopts these claims on the understanding that it has no responsibility what­ ever for subsequent claims whether on the grounds that a final comprise settlement has been reached on behalf of the claimant or any other grounds. The registration of claims will not necessarily imply that in general or in any particular case ade­ quate compensation or any compensation will be obtained. .

5. Claims received from Palestine will be examined by the Chartered Account­ ants for the British Delegation; claimants should sign an undertaking to meet fees of these accountants should they be necessary.

6. Lists of

(a) lawyers in Yugoslavia known to be able to correspond in English,

(6) firms declared to be of Republican importance in Yugoslavia which ,are available from announcements in the Board of Trade Journal may be inspected by prospective registrants in the office of the Registrar of Enemy Debts (Palestine), Jerusalem, Mamillah Road, Central Police Building, Room No. 1 during the hours 9-12, except on Saturday and Sunday. , .
