In addition to the classic pollutants like the polychlorinated biphenyls, polyaromatic 14 hydrocarbons (PAHs), alkylphenols, biocides, etc., other compound groups of concern are 15 constantly emerging. Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) can be expected to 16 co-occur with other organic contaminants like biocides, PAHs and alkylphenols in areas 17 affected by wastewater, industrial effluents and intensive recreational activity.
