  • St Giles, Exhall Journeying Towards Being the Church God Wants Us to Be
St Giles, Exhall Journeying towards being the church God wants us to be Page 1 of 20 BISHOP’S INTRODUCTION “Journeying towards being the church God wants us to be” Nuneaton Deanery is a large deanery covering most of the northern part of Warwickshire. It is an area of natural beauty and is characterised by fairly high levels of material deprivation. St Giles Exhall sits on the southernmost edge of the deanery connecting it to Coventry itself, and has a history of flourishing and of being a church full of vitality and optimism. It is a church that, in quite exciting ways, participates in the diocesan mission purpose of worshipping God, making new disciples and transforming communities. The breadth and depth of worship offered on Sundays and throughout the week facilitates encounters with God for people of all ages and traditions, inspiring this church community to share their faith in words and action. This enables others to come and explore the Christian faith with them, and empowers them to connect with and serve the wider community. And yet they continue to remain expectant that God will do more with them and through them. They believe that they are called to do more, to say more, to be more. This desire to “proclaim the gospel afresh” is a deeply Anglican characteristic and is to be commended. They seek a new minister who will build on their strengths and enable them to continue on this exciting journey towards being the church God wants them to be, giving a lot of scope for a new and fruitful season of ministry and mission.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart A Parish History 1849 - 2004 The Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Weston-in-Arden, Bulkington, Warwickshire Our Lady of the Sacred Heart - A Parish History - 1 Our Lady of the Sacred Heart - A Parish History - 2 A recent view of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church looking towards Mill Lane Our Lady of the Sacred Heart - A Parish History - 3 This history is dedicated to past, present and future generations of Weston parishioners INTRODUCTION It gives me great pleasure to introduce this updated Parish History dedicated to past, present, and future generations of Weston Parishioners. A parish community is a very special place where people come together to live out their faith initiated at Baptism, to receive the Sacraments, to have a deeper awareness of what their faith means in their lives and live out the Gospel message of Christ. As a parish family, together with the priest we share in the joys and sorrows of life and hopefully support each other when difficulties arise. This parish from its humble beginnings has built up a rich tapestry of faith which has influenced the wider village community in many ways. The following pages give us glimpse of parish life in days gone by and the people past and present who have made such a valuable contribution to its mission. I would like to pay tribute to all the fine priests that have served this parish and have gone before us. Their hard work and dedication has been outstanding. May the Lord reward these good and faithful servants.

The Designated area was the existing Parish Council boundary. References to ‘Wolvey’ will usually refer to the whole of the Parish. The Parish Council has produced the Wolvey Neighbourhood Plan with assistance from an Advisory Committee including Parish Council members and help from the Borough Council and other agencies. The Neighbourhood Plan will form the basis for planning decisions applicable to Wolvey Parish, up to 2031, together with the policies in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), updated in 2019 which embrace the whole of the country and the Local Plan for Rugby Borough, Adopted on 21 June 2019, which covers the area controlled by the Borough Council. It is the Borough Council as the Local Planning Authority who will continue to determine planning applications, but they will have to consider the policies in the Neighbourhood Plan when reaching their decision.
