Potentate’s Notes

Hello nobles, Nobles and ladies, the Imperial Season is now history and it lasted till noon on Thursday, July 4. We still had several “Call” items to discuss on Thursday and Past Potentate Bruce Steube had the honor of picking up everyone’s check. Thank you, Bruce! We had a great get-together dinner on Wednesday evening with eighteen ; one couple tossed us off for greener pastures. Our one and only Great Oriental Band took First Place in one event and third overall, celebrating by inducting Oriental Guide Bill Balkwill and High Priest and Prophet Carroll Scribner in to the Band. What a “Coo!” Please congratulate them. Remember Phil Staples? He would have been proud. Way to go nobles. We all went our separate ways after Imperial, A. R. Connie Jacobi to St. Louis to visit his daughter; Stacey and myself to our three-week hiatus; Indy to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; to Glens Falls, NewYork; to Oxford, Pennsylvania; to Manassas, Virginia to Auto Train and home! Hopefully, we got the traveling out of our system. We also understand the Shipleys took a tour of our western states. I’m personally looking for the second half to bring a little more fun and less work. Our temple remained closed for the first two weeks in July with much activity. Our Ritual Room was finally repaired with monetary aid of $1,000 from our Manatee Shrine Club. We finally have our combination projector/audio equipment installed in the main hall. The lounge has been repaired and painted from contributions to our First Lady’s Project. The L.O.S. and individual ladies contributions amounted to $720, $200 from Mary Ellen Pickering’s estate and so far, $500 from Manatee Shrine Club for a total as of July 4 of $1420. We had an initial bid of $2300, however the north wall was found to be damp so more money was needed. I have asked several clubs and hopefully, more contributions will be in the chute. I would like to finish the Sahara Rooms but there are no more funds. All of the Divan were to be home by the end of July so the first week in August was very active. Bingo is still going strong, Thank Goodness! I want to thank all nobles and ladies for your support this year and hope for more fun to come. God Bless and stay safe.

God Bless All!

William “Bill” H. Zurlo, Potentate
