Editor’s Update: ello Wolfville! I’ve been asked to fill 100 words…which is not nearly close enough to sing the praises of the HGrapevine’s “Third Person”, Laura MacDonald. Laura is somewhat new to the community but is already fitting in marvelously well. Her writing abilities and employment experience at the Gaspereau Valley Press are valuable resources. Her willingness to go late into the night on construction nights proves that she understands the responsibility associated with this paper. This is the third issue she’s been involved with and I look forward to many, many more. Laura, you’re great! PS – we met many outstanding people during the selection process. Thanks to all who applied. Jeremy~ Novak

9 The Grapevine July 8 - July 22, 2010 Wearing Pearls in the Kitchen veryone has cravings. It seems that these days, people want to get their fix of fresh local strawberries or juicy drippy watermelon. While I am Eone of these people, my craving recently has been for something crunchy and creamy and chocolate and well, not very healthy. I’m sure I am not alone in this. My mother had the solution. She sent me this recipe and a story.

While she was pregnant with me, she asked her oldest and dearest friend for a dessert recipe for a party she was attending. She made the dessert, and sat down at the table, overcome with pregnancy craving and devoured the entire pan... I do believe this was why I weighed a whopping 10 pounds when I was born. It could also explain my obsession with chocolate. Bon Appétit! Brought to you by: ~Victoria Comeau
