Key qualifications A broad theoretical and practical working experience on integrated cultural heritage management including development agency consultancies and site-specific management planning.

Expertise in World Heritage processes includes both policy and capacity building and practice in doing nomination, evaluation, monitoring, reporting and management planning consultancies. She has been part in developing World Heritage cultural landscape and WHPO sustainable tourism guidelines (case study of Mombasa 2012) and has recently developed a number of environmental and heritage impact assessments (HIA/ICOMOS) for cultural and historic urban landscapes and built heritage

Knowledge of Sub-Saharan African region through UNESCO World Heritage assignments and consultancies in World Heritage evaluation, monitoring, training and Management Plan development. Through her activities in international, multicultural mid-career professional training and capacity building programmes, notably in UNESCO ICCROM programmes she has worked with participants from Zanzibar and in Africa 2009 (1998-2009) programme. Recently she joined as a trainer the course in Zanzibar on impact assessment by AWHF/ICCROM with Stone Town as a case study (2016). Additionally, she participated in the Historic Urban Landscapes workshop in Zanzibar 2009 and developed a report on Stone Town at the Heritage management seminar in Zanzibar in 2004.

Expertise in international mid-career training and capacity building. Responsible of a number of workshops and seminars with participants from Stone Town; for example, World Heritage Cultural landscapes curricula development and the member of the teaching team, (Mombasa 2003) and World Heritage Capacity Building programme training seminars (Mombasa 2011). Her World Heritage expert missions include World Heritage Nomination dossier developments in Burundi (2011), Cameroon (2009), and UNESCO World Heritage monitoring missions to Uganda (Kasubi Tombs WHS,2012), Ethiopia (Lalibela WHS, 2016)and Sudan (Gebel Barkal WHS, 2015).

Theoretical and methodological knowledge through ongoing research in integrated heritage development, infrastructure and environmental planning includes a case study on Stone Town (Frictions, Fractures and Cultural Resilience funded by Swedish Development Agency 2011-2014). Experience of developing of guidelines for heritage management include thematic and site-specific guidelines and articles in World Heritage Papers #7 (2004) and #26 (2010), Tourism and World Heritage (World Heritage Centre 2013), Cultural Landscapes in Environmental Management (ICCROM 2013).

Expertise in Environmental Impact Assessments and environmental planning, Heritage Impact Assessments (HIA ICOMOS),cultural (urban and rural) landscapes management and integrated conservation.
