Issue 171 - Winter 2015/2016 | 3 Chairman’s Chat

Hi folks, I am delighted to announce that at the Camping and Caravanning Club A.G.M in October this year, our very own magazine Waggoners Talk, won the Burnham Trophy for Best Magazine. Many congratulations to our editor Bryan Giles and all at Truprint along with all of you who contribute to the magazine with reports and stories for making the winning of the award possible. By the time this magazine is published all the Christmas and New Year parties will be over. I hope you all had a great time and were not badly affected by the terrible floods that caused so much damage to some areas of the country. Those of us who do not use our vans during the winter will now be busy getting them ready for the 2016 season. We are all hoping for good weather but I am sure we will enjoy ourselves anyway. I am really looking forward to the 54th national A.G.M meet being hosted by North West area at Cartmel race course in Cumbria and hope we have a really good turnout to this lovely area of the country.

East Midlands... Website – www.eastmidlandsmcs.co.uk Hi. Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. East Mids look forward to greeting you in a field somewhere so come join us. As I sit here looking at the rain I can at least look back at the last few days and I think – ‘what a good time we had’. The forecast for last week looked good so Dave and I arrived at Hoar Park Farm on Wednesday and parked on the CS site next to the rally field. A lovely view and a great venue. Thursday brought a laze in the sun and to our delight Paul and Paula arrived from their sojourn down south, both looking well and bronzed. On Friday Dave and I went and partook of the best cooked breakfast we have had in years – well done the tea room. Can highly recommend it. Friday dawned with sunshine and then our stewards Judy and Paul arrived and set up, followed by 10 more outfits. It was lovely to meet up in the tent and catch up with everyone. On Saturday people enjoyed looking around the craft shops, eating lunch and enjoying the scenery. In the evening we had the answers to the quiz, a noisy raffle in which I won nothing – not impressed!! Judy then gave us a dingbat competition, which kept us all quiet and answered all except number nine. None of us could do it and Sue Chester sat for ages googling and finally she found the answer. OHHHHHHH said all of us, can see it now, we think! What was the answer – well you should have been there!! College. The weather wasn’t so kind to us on the Saturday After a soggy night the rain cleared and some of us but still people did manage to go out and about. Green Acres Farm, Fradley, 9th –11th October Fradley is becoming more popular (but there’s lots of room for more). The weekend provided the opportunity for walking and sightseeing. I managed to get a lift to Lichfield for the first time and Lynne enjoyed some retail therapy. The evening entertainment came in the form of a sausage sizzle and this went down well. Following an enjoyable coffee morning the campers made their way home.

Uttoxeter Racecourse 27th –29th November It was a weekend for ducks. We arrived in heavy rain and left in rain on Sunday. Paul and Jean who stewarded would have been better if they’d worn wet suits (and maybe a snorkel). Saturday morning gave us a break in weather and some managed to get some shopping in Uttoxeter. Saturday night saw a very good turnout for the American supper and the games night got people out their seats literally!

Issue 171 - Winter 2015/2016 | 13 North London & Eastern... North West... Happy New Year everybody. Another busy meet period with members in 2015 was not the best year for North London & Eastern Area. October twice attending Warton Cricket Club, Nr North London & Eastern Area celebrated their 40th Carnforth and where members had a successful anniversary with two fantastic meets. Each had professional Halloween Meet by invite of Lakeland D.A. entertainment and lots of food, and were well attended by October also saw members enjoying a meet at guests from Kent and further afield, attendance by North Winmarleigh Village Hall, where our very own London & Eastern Area members was low, but a great time was Barbara Webb not only stewarded the meet but also had by all. celebrated her birthday with her friends and nice Attendance at meets in 2015 was lower than we would have to see visitors from other D.A.s attending while liked to see but it is always good to see friends old and new joining in the with the celebrations. Out & About in the field. In the last two editions of Waggoners Talk an appeal was made for new Treasurer to come forward as unfortunately the current Treasurer is unable to continue, as she has been in this role for a good few years and feels that it is time for a change. However she has agreed although reluctantly to continue with this position until the AGM in April. The current Committee would like North London & Eastern Area to continue for another 40 years, but they need a Treasurer and also would like to see new blood on the Committee.
