Many congratulations to our editor Bryan Giles and all at Truprint along with all of you who contribute to the magazine with reports and stories for making the winning of the award possible. By the time this magazine is published all the Christmas and New Year parties will be over. I hope you all had a great time and were not badly affected by the terrible floods that caused so much damage to some areas of the country. Those of us who do not use our vans during the winter will now be busy getting them ready for the 2016 season. We are all hoping for good weather but I am sure we will enjoy ourselves anyway. I am really looking forward to the 54th national A.G.M meet being hosted by North West area at Cartmel race course in Cumbria and hope we have a really good turnout to this lovely area of the country. Welcome to Silver Leys for our final home game before Christmas and of course 2016. I would especially like to welcome the Players, Officials and Supporters of Exmouth RFC. Everyone lucky enough to be here for our last home match against league leaders Chinnor will agree that they witnessed a compelling game. Even better it resulted in us registering a five point win over our rivals whilst restricting them to just the one try bonus point. Whilst the outcome of the match was never going to have a decisive impact on either team’s future. Our victory certainly made things a lot tighter at the top and sent the majority of those present, home with a smile on their face. I did say that a vocal crowd would make all the difference and so it proved. In the process we also discovered that we have some very capable ‘Banter-mime villains’ in our midst –Boo-Hiss!! Last Saturday at Redingensians was just as exciting. We managed to snatch a bonus point victory from half-way down the throat of defeat.

Last Saturday saw us convert our game in hand into the full five league points and in doing so we climbed above Chinnor into 1st place in the table. In truth it was a bit of a strange game, more akin to a preseason friendly in the way the teams took it in turns to score seemingly at will. Hopefully things will settle down a little this week and our defence will regain its normal miserly form. And they may need to because our visitors today the Wild Geese have a reputation for spreading their wings & playing expansive rugby, at times to their own detriment. But that should of course mean that we spectators are in for a real treat. For much of the season LIWG seem to have gone under the radar- neither threatening the top or bottom of the league.
