The village provides a good selection of shops, including a supermarket, pharmacy, doctors, dentist, a bank, butchers, hairdresser, garage, post office, hotels and inns. The ancient stannary town of Tavistock, to the north, has private education facilities with Kelly College, whilst to the south the portside city of Plymouth provides excellent, educational (including Plymouth College and two Universities), recreational and shopping facilities. There are mainline railway stations to London (Paddington) and ferries to the Continent. Dartmoor is renowned for its spectacular scenery, with its tors, heather clad moorland and wooded valleys, bisected by rushing streams and rivers. There are many opportunities locally for fishing, walking, riding, climbing and cycling, together with the Drakes Trail cycle route, running from Tavistock to Plymouth, passing the entrance to the property, while about 4 miles away is the stunningly beautiful Burrator reservoir. The South Devon coast, with its beaches, estuaries and coastal walks, together with excellent facilities for sailing at Plymouth Sound and on the estuaries of the River Tavy and Tamar, are all within easy reach, while further afield there are the famous centres of Salcombe and Dartmouth. There are golf courses at Whitchurch, Yelverton, Saltash and St. Mellion. At the bottom of the garden and just slightly off to the right is the village cricket ground and Roborough Down. Description Leatside is a beautiful example of a 1930s property, being offered for sale for the first time in 53 years. In lovely original condition and displaying numerous features associated with its time, the property has scope for remodelling and modernisation. The accommodation is bright and well-proportioned with rooms enjoying views over landscaped gardens. There are two large reception rooms (one with a fireplace) and parquet floors together with a good size kitchen/breakfast room and utility area. In addition there are a series of walk-in storage cupboards off the lobby which offer opportunities for reconfiguration. From the attractive hallway, again with parquet floor, an elegant staircase leads up to the first floor galleried landing, 7 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. A second staircase leads off the lobby area up to the first floor. The property has the original lovely leaded windows which have recently, in parts, been refurbished, central heating and a burglar alarm system. Leatside is a lovely family home which is further complemented by large, level, well maintained, landscaped gardens. Outside From the road a short tarmac drive leads down and over the granite lined Devonport leat (circa 1792). Passing over a cattle grid the main approach to the property is via a large parking rotunda which in turn leads to the integrated double garage with electric door. The front of the house overlooks this area together with gardens, flower beds and lawned areas bordered with many ornamental trees, shrubs and plants, including azaleas, hydrangeas and camellias. Either side of the property there is access to the south facing main garden which lies behind the property, once again beautifully landscaped with level lawns surrounded by borders and an abundant variety of trees, shrubs and plants including azaleas, hydrangeas and camellias. There is also a pond and a paved terraced area from which to enjoy the views over the grounds and fields beyond.
