HEART and HOME QUILTERS GUILD BUSINESS MEETING – APRIL 19, 2017

President Arlan Christ called the meeting to order at 7:43PM followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to our country’s flag. Due to the snow storm on March 14th, the guild did not meet in March and everyone was glad to see our guild family again.

1st VP/Membership Doris Schappell stated we had 53 members present at the meeting with Jaimie Davis becoming a new member. She announced the many March birthdays and those for April. Virginia Cusatis won the drawing for the scarf. Doris also asked the membership if anyone would be interested in the Fons & Porter subscription discount. There did not seem to be any interest.

Recording Secretary Eleanor Follweiler: The business meeting minutes for February 15th, 2017 were accepted as written and print- ed in the newsletter by a motion made by Linda Hilbert and seconded by Sandy Cullin. .

Treasurer Linda Epler gave a detailed account of the balances in the checking and savings account. There being no meeting in March, the interests on accounts were added. Some bills were paid at this meeting which left final balances of $1,298.72 in check- ing and $8,846.22 in savings .

Corresponding Secretary Linda Hilbert mailed a sympathy card to Robin Phillips on the passing of her mother plus a $50.00 donation was made to William E. Spatz Memorial Scholarship Fund, a get well card to Eleanor Follweiler for surgery in March, a card to Ka- rin Lilley for her husbands’ hospitalization and a thinking of you card to Ann Burrows for her accidental burn, also a sympathy card to Liz Keller for the passing of her son-in-law.

The program for this evening by Michele McLaughlin, originally to be for March, “A Harvest of Quilts”, was enjoyed by all. Diane Hol- lenbach announced next months’ program will be Barb Garrett presenting “With a Mothers Love”.

Librarian Betsy Pienta stated she had some new books on the table as well as books on scrap quilts for anyone to check out.

Ann Burrows/Newsletter: She needs to have any new articles for the newsletter by Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

Community Service/Cathy Phillips & Tracey Diehl: Cathy gave the following compilation of donations: 26 laundry bags, 20 ab- dominal pillows, 5 neck pillows, 285 monitor bags, 37 baby hats, 5 angel gowns. Looks like last months’ snow storm had everyone inside sewing. She also asked if there is anyone in the membership who would be willing to machine quilt some of the many donated tops. The Fidget Lap Quilts were also discussed and many ideas were presented. Some of these Fidget Quilts will be the program for the July group sewing event.

Linda Epler passed out another three sour dough bags. This makes a total of six that will be circulating.

Karin Lilley showed the completed blue and yellow festival quilt which is our fundraiser for 2017. Linda Epler stated that she record- ed the hours of hand quilting it at 130.5 hours. Karin also added that if anyone wants to donate a throw or baby blanket for the festi- val she needed them by our next guild meeting. The applique top for the fundraising festival quilt for 2018 was presented for all to see. It was given to Ann Burrows for marking and Sara Ginder will be the hand quilter. Cathy Phillips also said there is fabric leftover which the guild purchased and if anyone would be interested in using it for a guild donation project they were welcome to use it.

Sharon Phillips announced that the candy her church made for a fundraiser was on the back table for those who placed orders. She also had some extras if anyone was interested in purchasing some.

Arlan announced that the website was updated and urged members to check it out. Also the next board meeting will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Ann Burrows and stated that the meeting was open to all members.
