Nhl Morning Skate – Nov. 3, 2019 Three Hard NHL MORNING SKATE – NOV. 3, 2019 THREE HARD LAPS * The Islanders extended their win streak to nine games, the longest by any team this season. New York defeated an intrastate rival, Buffalo, which contested its final game before the 2019 NHL Global Series. * The Bruins, Oilers and Islanders each reached the 10-win mark Saturday, joining the Capitals as the only teams to record a double-digit total this season. * Semyon Varlamov, Sergei Bobrovsky, David Rittich and Darcy Kuemper each recorded shutouts Saturday. The most shutouts on a 14-game day in NHL history is five, which occurred on Feb. 3, 2007 (Marc-Andre Fleury, Sean Burke, Manny Legace, Tomas Vokoun and Niklas Backstrom) as well as Oct. 30, 2010 (Henrik Lundqvist, Tim Thomas, Brent Johnson, Andrew Raycroft and Dan Ellis). ISLANDERS BLANK SABRES TO EXTEND WIN STREAK, EARN VICTORY No. 10 Semyon Varlamov turned aside all 27 shots he faced and Derick Brassard (GWG) stretched his goal streak to a career-high five contests (5-1—6) as the Islanders blanked the Sabres to extend their win streak to nine games and improve to 10-3-0 (20 points) overall this season. New York’s nine-game run is tied for its second-longest win streak in franchise history. * The Islanders reached the 10-win mark 13 or fewer games for the third time in franchise history, following 1982-83 (10-2-0, 20 points) and 2001-02 (10-1-2, 22 points). * New York improved to 14-1-1 in the second game of back-to-back sets since the start of the 2018-19 season. The Islanders’ 14 wins and .906 point percentage in those contests are the highest among all teams over that span. * Buffalo, which celebrated '70s Night at KeyBank Center, contested its final game before meeting Tampa Bay in the 2019 NHL Global Series for two head-to-head matchups slated from Nov. 8-9 in Stockholm, Sweden. ATLANTIC DIVISION-LEADING BRUINS EXTEND TEAM, PLAYER STREAKS . The Atlantic Division-leading Bruins (10-1-2, 22 points) defeated the Senators to reach the 10- win mark as the team and several of its players extended noteworthy streaks. * Boston extended its point streak to nine games (7-0-2), including wins in each of its last five outings. The Bruins have recorded at least one point streak of nine or more games in each of the last three seasons. * Boston has yet to suffer a regulation loss at TD Garden in 2019-20 (6-0-1) and earned points in each of its first seven or more home games in a season for the second time in the last 33 years (also 5-0-2 in 2001-02). The longest season-opening home point streak in franchise history is 21 games, a mark set in 1973-74 (19-0-2). * The Bruins improved to 4-0-2 (10 points) and 2-0-2 (6 points) against Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division opponents this season, respectively. * David Pastrnak opened the scoring at 1:17 of the first period and added two assists to extend his point streak to 11 games (13-14—27), one shy of the longest of his NHL career set from Nov. 22 – Dec. 18, 2017 (5-9—14 in 12 GP). * Brad Marchand (1-1—2) extended his career-high point streak to 12 games (8-15—23), including notching at least one assist in each of his last 11 outings. He became the first Bruins player to record an assist streak of 11 or more games since Marc Savard from Nov. 10 – Dec. 6, 2007 (2-17—19 in 12 GP). * Pastrnak and Marchand became just the second set of teammates on any club in the last dozen years with a simultaneous point streak of at least 11 games. The others since 2007-08 are Florida’s Mike Hoffman (10-10—20 in 17 GP) and Evgenii Dadonov (7-7—14 in 12 GP), who each had runs which overlapped for 12 contests from Oct. 16 – Nov. 13, 2018. * Tuukka Rask (30 saves) improved to 7-0-1 through eight appearances this season (1.49 GAA, .949 SV%, 2 SO). He became the fourth different Bruins goaltender to record a season- opening point streak of eight or more games and first in 41 years. AS PASTRNAK, BERGERON JOIN ELITE LISTS * David Pastrnak has opened the scoring seven times so far in 2019-20. That’s the highest such total in NHL history by a player through his team’s first 13 games in a season – two more than the next-closest players, a list which includes eight members of the Hockey Hall of Fame. * Pastrnak, 23, leads the League with 27 points in 2019-20 (13-14—27) – the third-most a Bruins player through the team’s first 13 games in a season behind Phil Esposito in 1973-74 (18-13—31) and Bobby Orr in 1974-75 (8-20—28). Pastrnak is one of 10 players age 23 or younger who lead their respective team in scoring this season (outright or tied). * Patrice Bergeron (1-1—2) collected the 500th regular-season assist of his NHL career (327- 500—827) and became the sixth player in franchise history to reach the milestone. HUGHES SCORES THIRD GOAL OF NHL CAREER Devils forward Jack Hughes, 18, scored the third goal of his NHL career and has found the score sheet in five of his last six games (3-4—7). * The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft has scored all three of his goals on the power play. Only three teenagers in League history have scored each of their first four or more career regular-season goals via the man advantage: Whalers forward Sylvain Turgeon in 1983-84 (6), North Stars forward Brian Bellows in 1982-83 (5) and Canucks defenseman Michel Petit in 1983-84 (5). PACIFIC DIVISION-LEADING OILERS REACH 10-WIN MARK Leon Draisaitl scored his 13th goal of the season (13-13—26 in 15 GP) at 2:37 of overtime and Mike Smith made 51 saves as the Pacific Division-leading Oilers improved to 10-4-1 (21 points) in 2019-20. Edmonton reached the 10-win mark in 15 or fewer games for the fifth time in franchise history. * Draisaitl, who extended his goal streak to five contests (7-3—10), became the first Oilers player to score 13 or more tallies through the team’s first 15 games in a season since Wayne Gretzky in 1987-88 (13-25—38). His 26 points, meanwhile, are the most by an Edmonton player through the Oilers’ first 15 games in a campaign since Mark Messier in 1989-90 (11- 15—26). BOBROVSKY RECORDS FIRST SHUTOUT IN A PANTHERS UNIFORM Sergei Bobrovsky, who was signed by Florida on July 1, turned aside all 22 shots he faced to record his first shutout in a Panthers uniform. * Bobrovsky recorded his 23rd regular-season shutout since 2015-16 – tops among all goaltenders in that span. His 34 career regular-season shutouts overall are tied with Ilya Bryzgalov for the third-most in NHL history among goaltenders of Russian nationality, behind Evgeni Nabokov (59) and Nikolai Khabibulin (46). ST. LOUIS, VANCOUVER AND DALLAS CONTINUE RECENT SUCCESS St. Louis (9-3-3, 21 points), Vancouver (9-3-2, 20 points) and Dallas (7-8-1, 15 points) each secured wins to continue recent strings of success: * Ryan O'Reilly (1-1—2) scored the overtime winner to lift the Central Division-leading Blues to their fourth consecutive win – with each contest decided by a one-goal margin. Doug Armstrong earned his 622nd career regular-season win as a general manager (622-344-130) to move within one of tying longtime Canadiens executive Frank Selke Sr. (623-375-232) for 24th place on the NHL’s all-time list. * Elias Pettersson scored twice to record his sixth multi-point outing of the season and help the Canucks extend their streak without a regulation loss to seven games (5-0-2). Vancouver reached the 20-point mark in 14 or fewer games for the fourth time in franchise history, following 2003-04 (9-2-2, 20 points), 2005-06 (9-2-2, 20 points) and 2014-15 (10-4-0, 20 points). * Denis Gurianov scored two goals – including the game winner by converting on a penalty shot attempt – to help the Stars improve to 6-1-0 in their last seven contests on the heels of a 1- 7-1 start to the season. Gurianov became the fourth rookie in franchise history to score a penalty-shot goal. QUICK CLICKS * Jim Gregory remembered as 'incredible human being' at funeral * Rosalie Gregory pillar of strength at husband's funeral * Two-year-old Grayson Hooper drops puck on Hockey Fights Cancer Night * Predators reveal retro-inspired jersey for Winter Classic * Victor Hedman eyes 'unbelievable experience' when Lightning play Global Series PREVIEW OF TODAY’S ACTION OVI, GETZLAF SET TO REACH 1,100- AND 1,000-GAME MILESTONE, RESPECTIVELY Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf are set to skate in their 1,100th and 1,000th career regular-season games, respectively. * Ovechkin has scored 669 career regular-season goals through his first 1,099 games (669- 561—1,230). • Injuries Continue to Plague Jets Seven Wounded Players Missed Saturday's Game
Winnipeg Free Press https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/jets/injuries-continue-to-keep-jets-in-sick- bay-476497963.html?k=QAPMqC Injuries continue to plague Jets Seven wounded players missed Saturday's game By: Mike McIntyre WASHINGTON — Is there a doctor in the house? It’s been a common refrain for the Winnipeg Jets lately, as they just can’t seem to get close to a full, healthy lineup. Seven players were out due to injury in Saturday’s 2-1 loss in Philadelphia. Here’s what we know about all of them, with further updates expected today as the Jets return to action with a morning skate and then their game in Washington against the Capitals. Mark Scheifele has missed two games with a suspected shoulder injury, and there will be no rushing him back into action. He’s considered day-to-day at this point, and coach Paul Maurice had said last week he was a possibility to play either tonight, or tomorrow in Nashville. But don’t bet on it. Defenceman Toby Enstrom is battling a lower-body issue which kept him out for four games, saw him return in New Jersey last Thursday and then be back out on Saturday. Maurice said it’s a nagging thing that can change day-to-day, so his status is very much a question mark. Defenceman Dmitry Kulikov missed Saturday’s game after getting hurt Thursday in New Jersey. Maurice hasn’t said how long he could be out, only that it’s upper-body. Goalie Steve Mason has been sent back to Winnipeg for further testing on a lower-body injury he suffered late in the game against the New York Rangers last Tuesday, which was his first game back from his second concussion of the season.

  • Dobber's 2010-11 Fantasy Guide
DOBBER’S 2010-11 FANTASY GUIDE DOBBERHOCKEY.COM – HOME OF THE TOP 300 FANTASY PLAYERS I think we’re at the point in the fantasy hockey universe where DobberHockey.com is either known in a fantasy league, or the GM’s are sleeping. Besides my column in The Hockey News’ Ultimate Pool Guide, and my contributions to this year’s Score Forecaster (fifth year doing each), I put an ad in McKeen’s. That covers the big three hockey pool magazines and you should have at least one of them as part of your draft prep. The other thing you need, of course, is this Guide right here. It is not only updated throughout the summer, but I also make sure that the features/tidbits found in here are unique. I know what’s in the print mags and I have always tried to set this Guide apart from them. Once again, this is an automatic download – just pick it up in your downloads section. Look for one or two updates in August, then one or two updates between September 1st and 14th. After that, when training camp is in full swing, I will be updating every two or three days right into October. Make sure you download the latest prior to heading into your draft (and don’t ask me on one day if I’ll be updating the next day – I get so many of those that I am unable to answer them all, just download as late as you can). Any updates beyond this original release will be in bold blue.
