Happy Christmas

Welcome to our Christmas newsletter! We hope you are all keeping safe and well in these continuing difficult times. Whilst there was unfortunately no activity on the field throughout November, and not much in December, the club continued to work behind the scenes in an attempt to improve our facilities. Most notably, I am pleased to confirm that the club have se- cured a grant of almost £8,000 from The Football Foundation for the purchase of addi- tional roll-out goals at our Parsonage Lane site, and also some mobile floodlights. The latter will allow the club to run midweek training sessions, and save a significant sum of money that we currently pay to use external facilities at venues such as 'Goals'. This is subject to a tweak on our existing lease terms with the Parish Council.

In addition to the above, I am pleased to confirm that the club has been invited to an informal meeting with the Parish Council to discuss facility improvements across both sites and also be a part of the consultation process and meetings with an architect for redevelopment of the Pavilion at Parsonage Lane. It continues to be an exciting time to be a Dynamo and I hope you share our excitement! On pitch, and following the early success of our collaboration with TKR Sports in respect of Soccer Tots, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our newly formed Under 8's Blues. Further, I would like to thank Scott Collier and Luke Johnson for stepping up and agreeing to Manage and Coach this new team. The side will continue to train until the end of the year and join the SELKent league from January 2021. Finally, it’s been great to see the teams return to training and matches as lockdown and isolations ease, and we look forward to seeing a full weekend of football sometime soon.

On behalf of the committee, I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and let’s hope that 2021 proves to be a better year both on and off the field. Lee Champion FCSD Chairman Spotlight on

This month’s spotlight is on Parent Committee Member, and Matchday Commentator Jamie Maloney

Full Name : Jamie Maloney. Nickname : Jay. Place of Birth : I was born in Bromley hospital on Masons Hill in Bromley, it has since been knocked down and replaced with The Princess Royal University Hospital, also known as Farn- borough Hospital. Home Life : Married to my beautiful wife Samantha since 2007 but we’ve been together since 2003, we’re also lucky enough to have our Son Alfie who captains for the under 17’s. How did your involvement with FCSD come about? My son Alfie went to St Paul’s primary school in Swanley Village, one of the boys who was currently playing for the under 6’s also went to St Paul’s and mentioned it was Sutton Dynamo’s annual 6 a side tournament coming up and the team was a few players short, so Alfie went along, played, fell in love with our famous yellow shirt and the rest as they say is history. What is your background in football? My love for football started around 6 years old where I was given a kit, I was memorised by the rich sharp Red of the shirt with the thin white pinstripes, sponsored by Crown Paints back then. Obviously at that age you don’t know your best position, but I eventually found my place as an holding . Played some decent standard Football for Swanley Standard and our secondary school team were one of the best around at the time. I remember going on tour with Swanley Standard as a teenager to Belgium, Germany and Holland and even ended up in goal one match. Best memory in football? Without any doubt my first visit to The old Wembley in 1986, I was 10 years old and Liverpool were playing against their rivals Everton in The FA Cup Final. I remember it like yesterday, the hustle and bustle of 90,000 people as a young lad was a tad intimidating at first, but once I entered that magnificent stadium I was in awe of the then original home of English football. Liverpool had the week before secured the league title with Everton finishing as runners up, so this was a game between the two best teams around at the time. Nervy start as put the toffees one up before a brace from Ian Rush and a goal from thus completing the double in King Kenny’s first season as player manager. Favourite Music I’m an 80’s lover all day long with the king of pop Michael Jackson being my favourite. Favourite TV Shows Win, lose or draw Match of the Day, love the documentary channels and favourite box sets of all time are The Sopranos and Sons of Anarchy. I must say I’ve recently really enjoyed watching The Crown also. Favourite Other Sports I enjoy watching a variety of other sports, golf, darts, snooker and Athletics to name a few. I can’t quite watch that game with the egg shaped ball as yet.. Superstitions I always eat my Yorkshire puddings before touching any other part of my roast dinner. Long Term Ambitions In Football I sincerely wish every single boy / girl on Sutton Dynamo’s books to fulfil their potentials, that would make me happy. Something You Didn’t Know about me I have a phobia of tomato sauce! Puzzle Time

SUTTON DYNAMO FOOTBALL MIDFIELDER GOAL STRIKER DEFENDER MANAGER REFEREE COACH A Team in Detail

In this monthly feature we will ask one of the Managers some questions to get into detail on one of our teams, This month we focus on the Under 9’s Age group: Under 9 Manager : Stuart Wisdom Coach : Billy Nguedong Parent Committee Member : Colin Fensom Squad Size : 11 Match format : 7 a-side—25 minutes each way Preferred Formation : Currently playing either a 2-3-1 or a 2-2-2 formation, although we’ve not managed enough games this season to figure out what works best! Ambitions for the season : As with most teams, Covid has got in the way of this season, so far we’ve only managed 5 games due to lockdown and players being in isolation. For 6 of our players this is the first season in football, we’re very focussed on playing as team and enjoying the game! The Team : The team started last season, with a number of players playing a year up. Only 4 of our current squad were with us at the start of last season, 5 from that original squad are playing in the current under 8’s. With 7 new players in the squad, and a stop/start season it’s been hard to find a rhythm, hopefully we’ll get a run of matches in January and can build some momentum We’ve got 2 girls in the squad which is great to see. They both get stuck in, and enjoy their football as much as the boys! All the players have progressed a huge amount since joining the squad, I think we’ve got some real talent in the team, and some exciting prospects for the future! Highlights : Our second game of this season, a 6-1 win in a local derby against Sutton Athletic. More important than the result was the teamwork they showed, and passing movements during the game. It was a great, all round performance (Colin’s write up is here www.fcsuttondynamo.co.uk/u9-vs-sutton-athletic )

Our Community

Mary’s Child

Back in October, we chose Mary’s Child as our Charity partner, and where Covid allowed, have been receiving donations from our players and the local community. The Mary’s Child Project is a fantastic charity that provides love, care and support for families in need. Club Secretary Emma Champion has delivered our second collection of food and toiletries to the charity, in time for them to be given out before Christmas. You can find more information on the charity here www.stmarystone.org/mary-s-child-project We are extremely grateful to all those participating and thank every one of you for your continued support.
