Director of Athletics Gilmour Academy is an independent, Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory school in the Holy Cross tradition. The school’s mission is to develop students with the ability to see and the courage to act in creating a more humane and just society. Athletics play a vital role in the school and the department requires an exemplary leader who understands how to drive excellence in athletics within the context of a strong academic program. Gilmour Lancers compete in the OHSAA. Athletic program offerings include football, hockey, cross country, volleyball, basketball, soccer, swimming, baseball, softball, track and field, tennis, golf, lacrosse, and cheerleading. Our state of the art Athletic Center, Ice Arena, tennis courts baseball field, track and football/soccer field are situated on a beautiful 144-acre campus. This position assumes overall responsibility for developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive athletic program that provides all Gilmour Academy students the opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities, fostering physical skill, knowledge and understanding of healthy competition and the pleasure of the sport. The Athletic Director oversees the work of 9 athletic department members, 100 coaches and 400+ student athletes staffing all sports with appropriate coaching talent, supervising and evaluating coaches, managing the relationship with the Ohio High School Athletic Association and the departmental budget and office/support staff. Reports to the Assistant Head of School. Experience, Education and Skills Bachelor’s degree with extensive coaching experience at the high school level is required. Must possess; demonstrated success in interscholastic athletic leadership, a love and enthusiasm for athletics and the positive effects they can have on students, experience working with or teaching students, particularly in an independent school environment and involvement in professional organizations affiliated with high school athletics. experience with creating a budget and maintaining finances for a school's athletic department. experience scheduling and organizing multiple teams and coaches, and demonstrated use of social media and marketing of athletic programs. Strong references that convey your administrative abilities, connection with students, and athletic skills.
