with operations in 5 provinces in Papua New Guinea and one operation in the Solomon Islands. NBPOL is operating 11 mills, one refinery and 4 bulking terminals in Papua New Guinea and 1 mill and 1 bulking terminal in the Solomon Islands. Poliamba Limited (POL) consists of 1 oil mill with a supply base of 5 internally owned estates and 1,785 Village Oil Palms (VOP) associated smallholders as per table below. The audit of the mill, estates and smallholders was conducted according to the RSPO P&C Generic Version 2013 and PNG National Interpretation Guideline 21/03/2016 and RSPO SCC version 2014 The methodology for collection of objective evidence included physical site inspections, observation of tasks and processes, interviews of staff, workers and their families, review of documentation and monitoring data. Checklists and questionnaires were used to guide the collection of information. The comments made by external stakeholders were also taken into account in the assessment. During this recertification audit, applying the RSPO sampling formula of square root number of estates / smallholders x 0.8, a minimum 2 estates and 34 smallholders have to be selected. The selected estates are Kara and Noatsi and 41 smallholder members from North, South and West areas.     Poliamba Limited Proposed Lamendauen Plantation Kavieng District New Ireland Province Summary Report of Social and Environment Impact Assessment 1.0 Executive Summary New Ireland Province is situated in the north-eastern corner of Papua New Guinea. The main island, also known as New Ireland, is the second largest in the Bismarck Archipelago. Other islands within the province include New Hanover, Tigak, Djaul, Tench, Emirau, Mussau, Tabar, Lihir, Tanga and Anir. New Ireland is a narrow and mountainous island geographically aligned NW to SE. It is approximately 250km long and varies from 15 to 50km in width. The island can be divided into northern and southern New Ireland at 4oS latitude. For political and public administration, New Ireland Province is divided into two districts: Kavieng in the north and Namatanai in the south. Kavieng district is sub-divided into four Local Level Government (LLG) areas: Murat Rural, Kavieng Urban, Lavongai Rural and Tikana Rural. Namatanai district is made up of four LLG areas: Namatanai Rural, Nimamar Rural, Tanir Rural and Konoagil Rural. Kavieng town is the administrative capital of the province. The total land mass of the province is 9,557km2 and the population recorded in the 2011 National Census was 161,165. Geologically, northern New Ireland consists mostly of karst limestone with raised coralline limestone forming the flat lowlands along the coast. The two main soil types as Inceptisols (young, well-drained and moderately weathered soils) and Mollisols (high organic matter limestone-based soils). The region has a predominantly hot, humid, tropical climate with year round rainfall. Oil palm is currently grown on the coastal lowlands along the western and eastern coasts of northern New Ireland.
