Step 5 – Sell from Availability (Quick Sell / Automatic Best Buy Processes)

Entry: Sell Key (0), Number of seat(s) or sleeper accommodation, Example: Sell 2YD from line 11 inventory class and line number. Enter: 02YD11

Connection sell: 0, number, inventory class, first line number / number, Example: Sell 2U from line 11 and 2 YD from line 12 inventory class and second line number Enter: 02U11/2YD12

Note: When selling sleeper accommodations, book the number of rooms not the number of passengers. Do not reserve Example: Sell one class DS accommodation form line 11 seats in addition to sleeper for same segment. Enter: 01DS11

How the Quick Sell process works:

• Standard availability displays (like in Step 3) show base code (highest inventory) for sleepers and vehicles and Y/Y8/JY for coach • When you sell a sleeper or vehicle, Amtrak automatically confirms the lowest inventory available • When you sell Y class, Amtrak automatically confirms the lowest one way coach fare (YD, YB, YA or Y) available • When you sell YE (Amtrak’s Explore America Fare) or YF (miscellaneous fares including AD75), Amtrak confirms only those codes. Ad75 is no longer booked from the availability screen. The AD 75 discount can be sold only in the following way:

The Detailed Coach entry will display the YE and YF inventory codes on Amtrak’s Regional Trains and will display the KF inventory code in Amtrak’s Express.

The Detailed Premium entry will display the JE and JF inventory codes on Amtrak’s regional service and will display the PF inventory code on Amtrak’s Acela Express.

Detailed Coach: @2V@ A14MAYWASCHI11A*CC

Detailed Premium: @2V@A14MAYWASNYP11A*PC

• Refer to the Inventory Codes card for the complete set of base codes and their secondary codes
