Around the size of Connecticut in the US and Wales in the UK, Lebanon is a small country located on the Mediterranean Sea, enclaved between Syria and the Holy Land. Birthplace of the Phoenicians, Lebanon has a rich and extensive history that dates back thousands of years. Known for its religious diversity and freedom, Lebanon holds a distinctive identity and role within the Middle East.

Yet given its geographic location, Lebanon is also intimately acquainted with regional struggles. Of its 6 million people, 1 in 3 people are refugees, and the country is now struggling with its worst economic crisis ever, on top of the COVID-19 pandemic. This complex dynamic continues to shape the country but also the faithful witness and response of the Church.

An Iraqi church member in Lebanon ministers to Syrian refugees Through a series of à la carte calls, videos, devotions, and themed activities, you will not only learn more about Lebanon and the Arab world, but will see the miraculous ways God is working in and through your sisters and brothers in Christ as they minister to the world around them and witness to the transforming love of God. The Lebanese Society for Educational and Social Development (LSESD) exists to empower the Church and serve society. It seeks to accomplish this goal through the integrated and collaborative work of its six ministry arms, which together focus on three main areas of service: equipping the church, inclusive education, and emergency relief and community development. Through holistic ministry that caters to people’s bodies, minds, and souls, LSESD’s vision is to see communities transformed and churches flourishing in Lebanon and the MENA region for the glory of God.
