GB Railfreight and DVB Bank close financing for very last new built EMD JT42CWR “Class 66” locomotives
Frankfurt/Main, 2 June 2016 – DVB Bank SE (ISIN DE0008045501) provided financing for the very last seven new built EMD JT42CWR “Class 66” locomotives, manufactured in Muncie, Indiana, for GB Railfreight, the third largest rail freight operator in the United Kingdom.
The Class 66 is a reliable six-axle standard freight diesel locomotive and a standard working horse – not only in the UK. 634 units have been delivered to Europe since 1997 and another 47 units to Africa.
The financing closed on 10 May 2016. The very same day, the last Class 66 locomotive was named “Evening Star” during an official hand-over ceremony in York, UK, in remembrance of the last production of a UK-built steam locomotive with the same name, which could also be seen at the National Railway Museum.
