RAVENSDA LE , County on c. 223 acres

Maynooth t: 01 6286128 Brief History

The earliest history of ownership on record indicates a lease of land including Ravensdale from the Earl of Kildare to Sandford dated 5th February, 1708. This was later surrendered with the creation of a later lease dated 10th February, 1765 from the Duke of then titled Marquis of Kildare to Sandford. We believe that the original house was constructed around this time, and understand that the original property was used as a Dower house to the nearby by the .

On 15th September, 1845 Frederick Joseph Lecat Baron De Bazan Court and his wife Anne Catherine Donnellan Baroness De Bazan Court, residing in Paris sold the property to William Bellingham. He died and his widow sold the property in 1876. It passed through several owners and eventually was purchased by Major Hugh Wyndham Montgomery in 1903 who we believe totally re-furbished the main residence.

The current owners bought it in 1917 from Major Montgomery.
