Wisconsin Friday Fish Fry & Milwaukee Boat Cruise Fri. June 25 $120 Along with cheese, beer and bratwurst, the Friday fish fry is one of Wisconsin's most distinctive traditions and a part of state lore. Developed in the 1870s by European settlers observing meatless Fridays and using the bounty provided by the Lake Michigan waters, the tradition has grown into an incredibly popular weekly event. Before sitting down for a Fish Fry at Milwaukee’s Lakefront Brewery, we’ll take a tour of the Brewery, ranked the fourth best brewery tour in America by Trip Advisor. Housed in the historic old Milwaukee Electric Railway coal-fired power plant along the riverwalk, you’ll have the chance to sample their much sought-after beers. We then sit down to enjoy the Lakefront’s award-winning beer-battered cod, fried to perfection and served with their traditional sides. During the meal, enjoy the music of the Brewhaus Polka Kings. Prior to the Brewery Tour and Fish Fry, we’ll board one of the Milwaukee Boat Lines excursion boats for a 90-minute cruise on the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. See the beauty and charm of Milwaukee on this fun and educational narrated cruise. From the unique architecture, bridges and river sculptures that line the lakefront to the magnificent skyline views featuring the Milwaukee Art Museum, yacht clubs and the Summerfest grounds, the views are amazing! The Chicago Outfit- "Operation Family Secrets" Tue. July 13 $109 Get the inside story of Operation Family Secrets, an FBI investigation of mob-related crimes in Chicago. The FBI called it one of the most successful investigations of organized crime ever conducted. The investigation began in mid-1998 when Frank Calabrese Jr, wrote a letter to the FBI saying he wanted help to keep his dangerous father and mob boss Frank Sr, in prison. You’ll have the opportunity to “take a ride” with Frank Calabrese Jr, as he recounts his days and nights working as a soldier in his father's Chinatown crew and shows us actual crime scenes he experienced firsthand. See news clips and photos, and hear fascinating stories from a charismatic and great storyteller on how the Chicago mob operated, past and present. You will learn why he made his decision to turn against his father and the Chicago outfit, resulting in the conviction of mob heavyweights Joey “the Clown” Lombardo, street boss James Marcello, his father and his uncle Nick. Hear how the case also brought out the true story of the Spilotro Brothers hit, famously depicted in the movie “Casino” and the events leading to the historic trial in 2007. Lunch is included at one of Chicago’s most beloved restaurants, Harry Caray’s Restaurant on Kinzie St. The historic building was once the home of the notorious enforcer of the Al Capone gang, Frank Nitti, who had an apartment on the fourth floor. Relics from his life of crime were uncovered in 1998 when an electrician drilled a hole in the wall of the basement that revealed a hidden room spanning the width of the upstairs bar. Now referred to as Nitti’s Vault, it houses photographs, newspaper articles and legal documents from Nitti’s life. Recent evidence has revealed that the building also housed a speakeasy and two illegal slot machine manufacturing companies in the 1920’s. Hoosier Cabinets & Coppes Commons Tue. July 20 $108 Enjoy a delightful getaway as we travel to northern Indiana’s Elkhart County for a delightful tour and to learn of the rich history of Hoosier Cabinets and Coppes Commons. In 1914 the Coppes Brothers of Nappanee, IN established Napanee (spelled with only one p) Dutch Kitchenet, manufacturers of quality kitchen Cabinets including Hoosier Cabinets, a popular stand-alone kitchen cabinet on small casters.

• American Family Field Key Indicators of Success
AMERICAN FAMILY FIELD January 2021 KEY INDICATORS OF SUCCESS: As certified by an independent construction accounting firm, the final construction cost of the ballpark was $392 million. This final cost of construction includes ballpark costs, leased equipment, infrastructure costs and management and administration costs. The final construction costs are nearly $2 million under the original construction budget adopted in the fall of 1996, prior to the project’s groundbreaking. Of the more than 600 prime contracts and first tier subcontracts awarded during construction, almost 88% were awarded to firms from the state of Wisconsin. Also, of all the contract dollars committed to construction, nearly 76% were awarded to firms from the state of Wisconsin. Furthermore, nearly 67% of construction dollars were provided to firms located within the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District (Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Washington and Waukesha Counties). Both of these figures are conservative in that they reflect contract values, but do not include other significant local expenditures such as equipment rental, materials, supplies, utilities, fuel, and local labor investments by out-of-area firms. Of the 4,457 total “badges” issued to personnel for construction (a “badge” was issued when an individual completed safety training and successfully passed the drug testing), over 82% were issued to residents of the State of Wisconsin. Over 70% of the “badges” were issued to residents of the five county District. Over 200 targeted firms (minority-owned, woman-owned, disadvantaged and/or small businesses) were involved in the ballpark construction project. More than 80% of the targeted firms involved were from the state of Wisconsin, and over 75% of the targeted firms were located within the five county District.

  • Frida Kahlo: Dress and Identity
Frida Kahlo: Dress and Identity ART HISTORY MEXICO Cultural Journeys Mexico | Colombia | Guatemala www.tiastephanietours.com | (734) 769 7839 Frida Kahlo: Dress and Identity ART HISTORY MEXICO Many aspects of Frida Kahlo have been studied, pondered and admired. From her art, politics, love life, travails, and many others. A singular aspect of Frida Kahlo and her identity was her dress. Frida used dress consciously in the creation of her identity. Through dress, she crafted her image, displaying her cultural heritage from both Europe and Mexico. Who can imagine Frida Kahlo without visioning her Tehuana dress, the dress and region she most often adorned herself in, particularly for photos. But there were many others, from her “tomicoton” of Hueyapan, Puebla, her beautiful rebozos from Central Mexico, her Mazatec dress from Oaxaca and more. On this journey, we’ll explore how Frida used dress in the creation of her identity, and we’ll travel to some of the regions and communities of Mexico to meet the artisans, who to this day continue the legacy of hand crafting ethnographic clothing, an intimate expression of cultural identity. Program Highlights • Explore the National Museum of Anthropology • See her most famous painting: The Two Fridas at the Museum of Modern Art • Travel to Coyoacan to see her childhood home, “The Blue House” and to walk the neighborhood, LOCATION she and Diego often strolled hand and hand together (and eating tacos and drinking tequila!) • Attend lecture on Frida Kahlo’s ethnographic dress • Attend a rebozo expo-venta to learn of the iconic garment of Mexico, Frida often wore.
